Amber Benson and Sarah Michelle GellarBy Alan Kistler

She may be best know as Tara McClay on the series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but Amber Benson (left, with Sarah Michelle Gellar) has since become an accomplished writer. She has written and produced her own films, written several comics and she and co-writer Christopher Golden created the popular BBC series "Albion." Now, she's taking her first solo-flight as a novelist with “Death’s Daughter,” which is book one of a trilogy.

During a book signing at Midtown Comics in Times Square, we had the chance to about her new book and its interesting protagonist, a sarcastic young woman named Calliope Reaper-Jones. Amber told Hollywood Crush, “Basically, it’s about a girl who’s father is Death. [Death as a force] is run like a corporation. He’s the president and CEO. And he gets kidnapped and [Calliope] has to come and run the company and find out what happened to her dad. But she’s like a normal girl and she doesn’t want any part of the supernatural world.” Read more...

Kellan Lutz and Alex MerazBad news Emmett fans: Due to scheduling conflicts, the barrel-chested vamp's alter ego, Kellan Lutz(pictured left), has canceled his appearance on the first-ever "Twilight" fan cruise, which sets sail for Alaska in 2010. But before you tear up your ticket and swear to be a landlubber for life, there is a silver-furred lining. Equally hot actor Alex Meraz, who plays aggressive wolf pack member Paul in "New Moon," is hopping aboard in Kellan's place.

Alex will join Cullen cutie Ashley Greene on the week-long convention at sea, which includes a Q&A session, a costume ball, autograph session and more. But you know what this means? A vampire and a werewolf together... at sea! Let's hope there's going to be some life jackets aboard. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: "High School Musical" star Ashley Tisdale is still stunned by Michael Jackson's unexpected death last week. Only a day before he died, Jackson was rehearsing for his upcoming 50-date London concert series with "High School Musical" director Kenny Ortega.

And though the 23-year-old actress and singer wasn't even born when Thriller came out, she told MTV News that Jackson was a big influence on her music and the work of her "HSM" castmates.

"I've loved Michael Jackson, his music, his music videos," Tisdale said. "I mean, the man made music videos what they are today. So, I've always been inspired by him. I think he's such a great dancer.

Robert Pattinson and Peter FacinelliOne of my favorite scenes from "Twilight" is when Edward takes Bella on a date to play thunderstorm baseball with the rest of the Cullen coven. When she asks why the family is so partial to the sport, Edward simply answers, "Well, it's the American past time." So it seems only fitting that the cast of "Twilight" will be taking to the diamond for a special Vampire Baseball "All-Star" game to celebrate Independence Day, and thanks to Ticketmaster, you can watch!

For $49 you can secure a seat at PGE Park in Portland, Ore. to watch Rachelle Lefevre, Peter Facinelli, Edi Gathegi, Michael Welch, Christian Serratos and more swing for the fences (disclaimer: vampire super-strength and speed not included). For an extra $86, you can upgrade to the "Premium Full-Day Package," which includes the Vampire Baseball game, admission to that evening's Beavers vs. Sky Sox game, a voucher for an autograph and a voucher for dinner, dessert and a soft drink. Oh my! Read more...

alia shawkat You may have thought that "The Runaways" had completed their band's lineup when they finally cast Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford, but there was still one piece missing — the girl who didn't become a Runaway: bass player Micki Steele.

Well, reportedly Floria Sigismondi’s biopic has found its bass player ... but it won't be the real life Steele. According to the Latino Review, Alia Shawkat ("Arrested Development") has joined the band as fictional band member Robin. Read more...
