Celebrity Breakup Report: Halfway Through 2009

The summer seems to be a popular time for celebrities to fall out of love with one another. We're still mourning the loss of any future snapshots of Justin Gaston and Miley Cyrus riding bicycles together around California. How quickly young love fades, especially when Nick Jonas reemerges on the scene!

Hannah Montana and her beau aren't the only ones to say hasta la vista this week. James Van Der Beek may be flying under the radar these days (you know, other than a brilliant guest spot on "One Tree Hill" as a maniacal movie director), but that doesn't mean his recent separation from his wife of six years, Heather McComb, hasn't affected us the same way it did when he split from Joey on "Dawson's Creek." (And...now the infamous "Dawson's" theme song, Paula Cole's "I Don't Want To Wait," is stuck in our heads!)

And, let's not forget the recently reported breakup between Leonardo DiCaprio and his latest supermodel, Bar Rafaeli. We have a feeling, though, that Romeo and his ex-Juliet might try and make it work again, especially because they were spotted together at a bookstore two nights ago.

Audrina Patridge and Justin Bobby finally said their goodbyes on this past season of "The Hills" but we weren't going to buy them being over until we saw the pictures of Audrina reportedly on a date with "Star Trek" babe Chris Pine. Her maybe romance with Captain Kirk, however, seemed over as quickly as it began because she was seen canoodling with her former flame, BMX rider Corey Bohan this past weekend in Sin City.

A few others on our ex-list so far in 2009 include Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, though we weren't too upset to hear they officially called it quits. Shanna Moakler and rocker Travis Barker also called off their romance again in April.

It's wishful thinking, but here's hoping with all of these splits that a few other choice guys wind up back on the singles scene, too. (Ahem Joshua Jackson, Joe Jonas and Ed Westwick!)
