As Facebook didn't already consume hours of my time, now I can spend a couple more (and $12) to see the story of its inception brought to the big screen. "The Social Network," based on the soon-to-be released "Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal" by Ben Mezrich, tells the story of the site's creation in 2004 by then-Harvard sophomore Mark Zuckerberg (pictured, right). News that David Fincher ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Fight Club") is in talks to direct the tale, got us wondering who would be the best Mark for the movie. Here are Hollywood Crush's top five nominees.
Fincher, we hope you're paying attention ...
The 25-year-old "Adventureland" star's familiar mop-top and "I'd love to do your math homework" vibe make him one of our front-runners. And, like Mark, Jesse was raised in New York by a Jewish family.
2. Michael Cera
Because computer genius is the next logical step in the evolutionary chain after caveman, no? Plus, by the time the Facebook movie actually comes out, we're sure he'll have aged enough to look like a college co-ed.
3. Asher Roth
YouTube really needs more Facebook raps, for sure, and this would be an opportunity for Asher to expand on this one, this one, and this one. Fincher's movies may not be known for their music, but with Asher onboard , the soundtrack for "Social Network" could very well make it to the top of the charts.
4. Dustin Diamond
Let's face it, Screech needs the money. Adult films and "Save My House" T-shirts just aren't the revenue generators they used to be. And, as an added bonus, perhaps he could convince "Saved by the Bell" classmate Mark-Paul Gosselaar to play Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes.
5. Paul Rust
The Iowa native already perfected nerd as high school valedictorian Denis Cooverman in his upcoming movie "I Love You, Beth Cooper," and at the ripe, oldish age of 28, proved that he can pass for someone much (much) younger, like a college sophomore, perhaps.
Who would you like to see cast as Mark Zuckerberg in the Facebook movie?
