'Twilight' Cruise: Kellan Lutz Jumps Overboard While Alex Meraz Hops On

Bad news Emmett fans: Due to scheduling conflicts, the barrel-chested vamp's alter ego, Kellan Lutz(pictured left), has canceled his appearance on the first-ever "Twilight" fan cruise, which sets sail for Alaska in 2010. But before you tear up your ticket and swear to be a landlubber for life, there is a silver-furred lining. Equally hot actor Alex Meraz, who plays aggressive wolf pack member Paul in "New Moon," is hopping aboard in Kellan's place.

Alex will join Cullen cutie Ashley Greene on the week-long convention at sea, which includes a Q&A session, a costume ball, autograph session and more. But you know what this means? A vampire and a werewolf together... at sea! Let's hope there's going to be some life jackets aboard.

According to the cruise company's Web site, organizers are working to wrangle two more cast members to bring the total up to four "Twilight" stars — and hopefully equal parts vampire and werewolf.

To get you vamped, er, ramped up for Alex's cruise appearance (and to get to know the actor a bit better), here are a few trivia tidbits:

- The 24-year-old is a member of the Purepecha (Tarasco) First Nation of Michoacan, Mexico

-He's a graduate of the New School for the Arts and studied mixed martial arts for 12 years

-While filming "New Moon," he and director Chris Weitz became work-out buddies. "I have to work out before takes and he kind of comes in, and he’ll grab two dumbbells and he tries working out [with] his little frail body. I try to teach him techniques,” Alex told Access Hollywood.
