The release of the trailer for "Fame" earlier this week has gotten just about everyone we know incredibly pumped for the movie's premiere on September 25. In fact, the musical, which is an update of the classic 1980 flick about the super talented students of the New York City High School of Performing Arts, could very well top "High School Musical" in the hierarchy of films that teenagers obsess over.
Even so, director Kevin Tancharoen still decided to cast a group of virtual unknowns for his highly anticipated remake, one of which includes Kherington Payne. The bubbly blonde's only Hollywood credit thus far includes season four of "So You Think You Can Dance," but that didn't seem to stand in the way of her getting the role of Alice — the only mandatory requirement for the character was that she could move gracefully on her feet. "Dance is her life, which is crazy because it's mine, too," Kherington told Hollywood Crush during a recent visit to MTV's NYC offices. "We kind of connect on the same level." It was confirmed today what had been speculated about for quite a while now: “Dancing With the Stars” dancer-turned-country singer Julianne Hough can now add "actress" to her résumé.
The official word has come down that Julianne will star alongside Chace Crawford in the "Footloose" remake, reports Variety. It's the latest casting news in the flick since Chace replaced Zac Efron in the role of Ren McCormack.
Last month, at the MTV Movie Awards, the film's director, Kenny Ortega, told E! Online how much he'd love to see Julianne in the film. "I love her," he said. "I adore her. I'm a big fan of hers. Not only how beautiful but how deep her talent goes." Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Lauren Conrad is officially a novelist. The former "Hills" star just released her debut novel, "L.A. Candy," to the masses, but if the plot sounds much like her own life, Conrad assures her fans out there that this is a work of pure fiction.
"I didn't take anything specifically that happened to me. The only thing that I did was ... it was a way to show not necessarily me but just of the other side of being on a show like ours," Conrad told MTV News. "For everyone that's done it I think you see one side and you don't see the other. It's kind of an interesting story to tell."
