FROM MTV.COM: Relax, Britney Spears is just fine. The singer was just the victim of yet another Twitter hack over the weekend, along with talk-show host/ comedian Ellen DeGeneres. According to The Associated Press, hackers broke into Spears' and DeGeneres' Twitpic accounts and sent out fake messages, including one that said Britney was dead.
"Britney has passed today," one of the fake messages said. "It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come."
Twitpic, a Web-based messaging system that is not owned by Twitter, allows users of the micro-blogging site to share photos. Twitpic service shut down briefly on Sunday after discovering what the Charleston, South Carolina-based company called a "vulnerability" in its mobile posting service. In a note to users, Twitpic asks users to disregard the message about Spears' alleged death and promised that the company was "implementing a fix immediately."

Could author James Frey of "A Million Little Pieces" fame have the next young adult sensation (à la "Twilight") on his hands? Judging from a synopsis of his upcoming sci-fi novel, I'm going to say yes.
According to The New York Times, Frey, along with an anonymous co-author, is shopping around a manuscript titled "I Am Number Four," the first in a six-book series about an alien teenager who seeks refuge in Paradise, Ohio after his planet is attacked. Though the novel has yet to find a publisher, the movie rights have already been bought by DreamWorks Pictures with "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" director Michael Bay signed on to produce and possibly direct. FROM MTV.COM:It's a beloved moment in the "New Moon" novel, a rare moment of comic relief as Bella Swan attempts to get over her Edward Cullen-induced heartbreak by going on what becomes a three-way date with the love-struck Jacob Black and Mike Newton. Recently, actor Michael Welch made big news by assuring Twilighters that the scene would be in November's "Twilight" sequel — and now, we've got the scoop on the key tweak masterminded by director Chris Weitz.
"I really should've checked with someone if this is information I can give away or not," grinned Welch, the fan favorite who plays puppy dog-like Mike Newton in the blockbuster series. "But, whatever — here we are."
Welch stopped by the MTV studios to discuss such far-ranging topics as his concern for Robert Pattinson's safety and the "three-way date," a scene that has Bella, Mike and Jacob at a movie theater, watching a horror film. But, in the grand tradition of such films as "The Player," "Bowfinger" and "The Purple Rose of Cairo," director Weitz is inserting his own mini "movie within a movie" into the mix.

What happens when a super nerdy high school valedictorian professes his love for the most popular girl in class? That's the question at the heart of the upcoming romantic teen comedy, "I Love You, Beth Cooper." The flick, starring "Heroes" hottie Hayden Panettiere as Beth Cooper and Paul Rust as the wannabe lover, doesn't hit theaters until July 10, but we've got a first look with five exclusive clips.
One other thing worth noting: The film is directed by Chris Columbus, who's directed such prior fare as two "Harry Potter" movies, both "Home Alone" flicks and seminal '80s teen film "Adventures in Babysitting." Take a gander at one of the clips below and then click here to watch the rest. And if you're interested in submitting your own real-life confessions, you can do so over here.

FROM MTV.COM:Michael Jackson is a pop-culture legend because of his groundbreaking work in music and movies and his visionary music videos. But Jackson, who died Thursday in Los Angeles, will also be remembered for his eccentric, creative and sparkling sense of style.
Just as his music and dancing have influenced today's young artists, from Justin Timberlake to Chris Brown, Jackson's style has also had an impact on many artists as well.
Jackson first burst onto the scene in the 1960s alongside his brothers in the Jackson 5. At the time, it was all about bright colors, bell-bottoms and printed tops. The guys kept up the look with a few tweaks here and there throughout much of the 1970s, including their signature Afros.

In case you didn't see the premiere of the supposed reality show answer to "Gossip Girl" on Bravo on Tuesday night, here's a refresher course: "NYC Prep" follows the lives of a group of fortunate teenagers who play an intricate role in Manhattan's elite high school scene. The show documents everything from their dating drama to their college decisions, all while highlighting their ridiculous wealth.
The new kids in town are already swearing off any comparisons to “Gossip Girl,” though. In the first episode of "Prep," one cast member, Jessie, was so relentless about proving that her life is not the same as that of Serena's or Blair's, that it almost seemed like it was an insult to be put in the same category. "Harry Potter" actress Emma Watson is rumored to be Columbia University bound, but don't expect co-star Daniel Radcliffe to follow her into the hallowed halls of academia. The 19-year-old actor recently shared his distaste for the classroom in the latest issue of Parade magazine. “I wasn’t very good in school at all,” Daniel told the mag. “I was kind of useless."
One thing Daniel hasn't been useless at his helping turn J.K. Rowling's fantasy franchise into a world-wide film phenomenon. With "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" coming out next month, Daniel talked with Parade about his similarities with the beloved boy wizard, taking it all of in "Equus," and why cougars make him purr.
