Renee Zellweger can indulge in a 4,000-calorie diet of Snickers, milkshakes and pizza once again, seeing as the lithe star needs to add some curves to reprise her role as quirky publishing exec Bridget Jones.
A third installment of the series based on the novels by Helen Fielding is in the early stages of development, and according to Variety , the plot will likely center around Bridget trying to have a baby in her 40s.
After finding the sequel disappointing and a bit absurd (Thai prison, wha?!?), I'm cautiously optimistic about a third go-around with Bridget. I'd love to see producers bring back Hugh Grant's Daniel Cleaver because he adds a touch of tension and mischievousness to the series (and really, I just love Hugh Grant in anything).
For Renee's part, donning the diarist's signature knickers again can only help a somewhat stalled career. Her most recent live-action films, including "New in Town" and "Appaloosa" weren't box-office stunners, and a proven franchise like "Bridget Jones" will likely add some much-needed luster to Renee's flagging profile.
Are you excited for a third "Bridget Jones" installment?
