Temple Hill Productions partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey — better known as two members of the team who originally brought "Twilight" to the big screen — are now planning to work with another rising star, Miley Cyrus. Variety reported today that Temple Hill, along with Miley's mama Tish Cyrus (who will act as exec producer), will produce Miley's next project "Wings."
Based on a young adult novel by Aprilynne Pike, which Disney just acquired the rights to, "Wings" is a fantasy which centers on a 15-year-old named Laurel (Miley) who after being home-schooled for most of her life, begins attending public school just as she discovers a bump on her back that eventually grows into a set of wings, thus making her a fairy.
Of course, it wouldn't be a worthy adaptation if there wasn't some sort of romance involved, so thanks to our research on the novel, which is the first of a planned four-book series, we learned that Laurel has two love interests: David (her new best friend at school) and Tamani (a gorgeous boy she meets in the woods).
Sounds like "Wings" has similarities to that aforementioned vampire series. Perhaps Tamani will become the next apple-of-every-girls-eye and replace Edward Cullen. If that's the cast, then may we suggest "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" newcomer Freddie Stroma to be considered for the role? We think the blond Adonis has definite potential!
Before Miley can meet her two lovers — and get her "Wings" — though, she has to complete her other movie based on a book, "The Last Song," which is an adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' novel.
What do you think of Miley getting the role of Lauren in "Wings"? How many of you have already read "Wings"?
