Golden Globe Nominee January Jones has taken a break from Betty Draper's prim and proper ways to cut loose — and get majorly hair-sprayed — for the August cover of Interview magazine (see the full image after the jump). In it, she talks about everything from her role on “Mad Men” to her view of Hollywood.
January was not named after the month she was born in (even though she was born January 5th), but rather her parents named her after the main character in Jacqueline Susann's novel, “Once Is Not Enough.” She joked that her name gave her the options of being “an actress, superhero, or stripper.”

January is mostly known for her role as Cadence Flaherty in “American Wedding” and as Betty on AMC’s addictive drama “Mad Men.” She calls her character Betty “Grace-Kelly-ish” and says that “she is cracked, that’s why I love her.” When deciding on whether or not she would fit the role, January said, “I thought this show would be an opportunity for people to see me as something else, something darker.”
Playing Betty has really opened the starlet's eyes to how differently women were viewed throughout the decades. “I come from a family of very outspoken women," January admitted. "I can’t imagine living in a time when you couldn’t express what you felt. That’s why Betty does what she does. She’s imploding to the point where she gets so frustrated that she does something wacky.”
Going mad for more "Mad Men"? Don't worry, the third season is set to air in August. In the meantime, if you're in a mood for retro fashions (ala Betty Draper), definitely check out our post on Zooey Deschanel's costumes in "500 Days of Summer."
What do you think of January’s cover?
