Late last night, Summit Entertainment sent out a "breaking news" press release which announced that Bryce Dallas Howard would we taking over for Rachelle Lefevre as the character of Victoria in the third movie in the Saga, "Eclipse." "Rachelle, who portrayed the character in 'Twilight' as well as the upcoming release of 'New Moon,' will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made," the release said.
Bryce, who is a member of a mini- Hollywood dynasty (her father is an actor and an Academy Award winning director, her grandparents were actors and her godfather is none other than "The Fonz" from "Happy Days," Henry Winkler), made her big-screen debut in 2004's "Book of Love." Her breakout role, though, came that same year in M. Night Shyamalan's thriller, "The Village." Most recently the 28-year-old was seen in "Terminator Salvation" and you may remember her as the girl who almost stole Peter Parker from Mary Jane in 2007' "Spider-Man 3." She's had success on the small screen, too: She was nominated for a Golden Globe for the 2006 HBO film, "As You Like It."
While she has many roles dramatic beefing up her filmography already, the question on everyone's mind has to be: can she play the ultimate villain? She certainly has the fiery red-head thing going for her (but, we have to wonder if they'll replace her real hair with a wig that looks similar to Rachelle's super curly locks?). Plus, just looking at that photo of the actress, she already kind of exudes that mysterious yet graceful nature that Victoria is known for. She'll definitely want to get herself acquainted with her wing-man Riley (Xavier Samuel) soon, as well as practice her knack for being ruthless and controlling as she's going to have a whole army of newborn vamps to look after in "Eclipse" (not to mention: a whole army of newborn fans!)
What do you think about Bryce replacing Rachelle? Are you disappointed or do you welcome the change?
