EDITOR’S NOTE: After we were wowed by the awesome “Twilight” rap video she made as a tribute to her high school graduation Class of ’09, 18-year-old Fara Madi of Fairfax, VA won the opportunity to be our guest reporter at TwiCon — the year’s biggest “Twilight” convention, currently underway in Dallas. On Saturday, Farah met “Twilight stars including Jackson Rathbone, Peter Facinelli and Christian Serratos, shopped on the giant convention floor, and attended the enormous Volturi costume ball. She filed this report.
Today was my second day at TwiCon, and it was filled with a lot of events and excitement.
The first exciting thing was that I got to meet Christian Serratos, who plays Angela in “Twilight.” She was super-sweet and spoke about how she would walk down the hallways in the hotel and meet all of her fans. It was so cool to meet her, since I was a fan of her since "Ned’s Declassified."
The next thing that I got to do was go down to the vendor booths that were selling all kinds of “Twilight”-related merchandise. There were many things from t-shirts to candy to beanies. My sisters had asked me to get them a couple of things from TwiCon, so I got to go around and buy so many different items that I hope they will enjoy.
After that, I met Jackson Rathbone(pictured, right)! He is so cool and down-to-earth. He talked about the different things that we can expect from “New Moon” and other projects that he is currently working on. He even got into character and gave us a line from “New Moon!” He was so nice and we got to spend a lot of time with him, it was really exciting.
Then, the members of the Hillywood Show came in! They were extremely nice. I found out that they first got started by winning a contest on AOL, which was a really cool fact that I never knew. They talked about how they do all the different parodies that they film. What was really funny was when Jackson Rathbone stood next to the guy that plays Jasper and started to pose and laugh — they spoke about how sometimes people can’t tell which is which.
Later in the day, I got to meet the members of the Twilight Music Girls. They spoke about their new album coming out in September and how they all got started. It was interesting to hear the song-writing process that they take, and how they all cooperate together to make songs about “Twilight.”
The last interview of the day was finished off with the one and only Peter Facinelli (pictured at the beginning of the post)! After not sleeping for so long, he was really tired, but still came all the way from Hawaii to see his fans. What surprised me was how funny he was! He made a lot of jokes, and some of the things he joked about I actually believed, until he said that it wasn’t true.
The last event of the day was the Volturi Masque Ball. The fans were all dressed up for the dance and really got into the mood. Some people went extreme with their costumes, it was crazy! Singers like Marcus Foster and Sam Bradley sang for the audience, which was really fun, and people were all dancing on the dance floor while the DJ was spinning out songs. The place was so packed.
Today was such a crazy day, but full of fun events. It was so much fun that I will never forget any details from it. The fans here are all so fun to hang out with, and the cast are all so down-to-earth!
Tell us about your most memorable moments from TwiCon if you were there, too!
