They say when you fall in love, you get comfortable and, yes, sometimes you even gain a little weight. They don't call 'em love handles nothing! And, former "Hills" star Lauren Conrad, who is now a best selling author thanks to "L.A. Candy," admits that after she started dating "My Boys" star Kyle Howard, she packed on a few pounds.
“I call it the ‘boyfriend layer,’” she says in Shape magazine's September issue (see her full cover image after the jump). “We were having more romantic dinners out, and I was exercising less.” So, LC decided that from now on the pair would spend romantic nights at the gym instead.
“I just ask Kyle, ‘You feel like working out?’ It’s more fun than hitting the gym alone,” she said. “We like doing outdoor stuff: tennis, bike riding, kayaking, stand-up surfing, hiking in the canyons around L.A."

But, Lauren isn't all about Kyle all the time. Like any career-savvy young lady, she's also thinking about her business. And nowadays her business includes her new clothing line for Kohl's, which debuts this October. “It’s all about finding silhouettes that highlight the best parts of your figure,” she said of her style. And, just so you know this is Lauren's second time on the cover of Shape. She also flaunted her physique in January 2008.
Boyfriends and clothes, aside, the California girl also talks about her decision to leave "The Hills," noting that she felt her self-esteem reaching a low. "Nine months ago, I reached my breaking point," she said. "I felt bad about myself because certain people were relentlessly attacking me and my reputation ... I realized I had to stop worrying about what other people think," she said. "The next day I got a tattoo on my lower back that says 'sticks and stones,' because they may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Once I let go of that, I felt more confident about myself." And that, she says, "made my decision to leave 'The Hills' pretty easy."
