It's surprising back injuries among mail carriers didn't spike during the summer of 2007 when the weighty September issue of Vogue began hitting mail boxes. At nearly five pounds, the fashion bible still holds the record for the largest single issue of a magazine ever published. Filmmaker R.J. Cutler went behind the scenes of the iconic issue, gaining unprecedented access to legendary editor Anna Wintour in his documentary "September Issue." The film's star along with cover girl Sienna Miller, actress Renee Zellweger, designer Zac Posen and more walked the red carpet last night for the film's New York premiere.
Weather-appropriate resort wear (It has been in the 90s in NYC, after all!) was on the itinerary for the women, with some hitting the perfect breezy note while others looked, well, like they'd been caught in a summer squall. Sienna, who thanks to "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" has been a red-carpet regular this summer, sparkled in an icy blue Thakoon minidress, while editor Anna's colorful Prada frock was a bit busy with its clashing bold patterns.
Also in orange was Renee (sans maybe-beau Bradley Cooper, unfort) who came decked in a shiny, metallic-print Carolina Herrera number. Renee's often outfitted in Carolina's designs, but this one had a bit of a "Pea in the Pod" feel with its swath of extra fabric hanging loosely around her midsection. Perhaps it's an investment for her Bridget Jones weight-gain period? Whatever the case, the dress would have been more flattering belted as the original design was. And also aboard the resort wear boat was MTV host Alexa Chung(above, right) in an ivory Calvin Klein dress questionably paired with black ankle boots.
While the women strutted their summer style, the men were all buttoned up in debonair suits (didn't they check the Weather Channel first?). Diddy (who never posed with rumored gal pal Cassie, also in attendance) and The Donald (Trump, that is) opted for all-business neck ties to complement their dapper ensembles while Zac Posen and Beatles spawn Sean Lennon added a touch of old-school whimsy to their eclectic outfits with bow ties.
Also in attendance at the fashionable premiere were filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, actors Kyle MacLachlan and Matthew Morrison ("Glee"), and a slew of designers including Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera and Oscar De La Renta. What do you think of the stars' "September Issue" style?
