As socialite Serena van der Woodsen, "Gossip Girl" Blake Lively has the Upper East Side wrapped around her little finger. But Blake will have to conquer a new zip code in the Ben Affleck-directed crime drama "The Town," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film centers around Ben's thieving character Doug MacRay who falls in love with Claire, the manager of a bank he robs. "Town" also stars Rebecca Hall as Claire, "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm as an FBI agent who also has eyes for the bank manager, and Jeremy Renner ("The Hurt Locker") as one of Ben's accomplices. Blake will play Ben's troubled ex-girlfriend and Jeremy's sister.
Now, I know age is a fluid concept in Hollywood—25-year-olds are frequently cast as high schoolers and makeup can turn middle age studs into 80-year-old Benjamin Buttons—but doesn't Blake seem a tad young for this role? At 37, Ben's got a good 15 years on the lovely Miss Lively. Though perhaps daddy issues are one of the many problems plaguing Blake's character? I'll reserve my judgment until the film comes out next fall.
What do you think about Blake going to "Town"?
