A part in the upcoming "Twilight" sequel "New Moon" is the kind of breakout role any hot young actor would give his eye teeth for, but the star who has perhaps the most to gain from his role as Quileute shapeshifter Embry Call is Kiowa Gordon. Though he has yet to grace the silver screen, the 19-year-old has already garnered a rabid fan following (more on that to come), and we can only expect it will increase exponentially once the movie actually comes out. MTV News caught up with the Saga newbie at the premiere of "Bandslam" where he spilled about working out, those crazy fan happenings and how to tell he and his wolf brothers apart.
By now it's been well documented that Taylor Lautner gained 30 lbs. of muscles to retain his role as Bella's lovesick friend Jacob in the sequel—Taylor even flaunted the fact in the "Meet Jacob Black" trailer —but he wasn't the only one to get buff for "New Moon." The rest of the Wolf Pack also got put through the ringer. "When we showed up, they were like, 'We got you a personal trainer. You guys are gonna train hard!' Kiowa reminisced. "And so we were like, 'Sweet, we get to work out!' And it was really fun."
Kiowa may have had to work his body hard, but he didn't have to put much effort into winning fans. "I guess I've been welcomed with open arms. A couple weeks after getting announced out there to the public that I got the role, a girl actually tattooed my name on her back with a paw print!" (Yes, that would be his name, not his character's name.)
In the movie, Kiowa and his fellow Wolf Packers (Chaske Spencer, Alex Meraz, Bronson Pelletier, and of course, Taylor) also sport some ink in the form of matching tattoos, but Kiowa told us how to tell the tribe members apart once they've phased into their hairier selves. "We all look like brothers, so [we'll look similar], but we all have our own colors, so you can [tell which is which]. It's distinctive."
