Though Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me On the Equinox" won't premiere until Sunday (the day of the 2009 Video Music Awards and premiere of another "New Moon" trailer), the members of the Seattle-based band spoke with MTV News last week while shooting the video for the song, the first single from the "New Moon" soundtrack. The video doesn't have a set premiere date yet, but guitarist Chris Walla gave us the scoop on what the clip will entail.
Shots of the band playing in a rustic-looking "crazy ski lodge of a building," what Chris imagines is a place somewhere in Forks that "might be next door to Bella's house or something," will be intercut with footage from the movie. The Seattle-based band is no stranger to Forks — the musicians all hail from Washington and a couple even visited Forks in its pre-"Twilight" days.
The windows of the building where the band is playing will change from light to dark for a funky day-to-night effect, Chris said. "All the light stuff that's happening through the windows, it's the 'day-turning-into-night-turning-into-day thing,' the idea is that it's supposed to look like a time-lapse thing, only it's not actually a time-lapse thing, and it's quite a trick." I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I'm sure it'll look pretty awesome in the end.
Are you excited to see what the band will do with the video? Do you think it'll some new footage from "New Moon"? Or is thinking about the video jumping the gun — do you want to just hear the song already?
