Like we said yesterday, the lyrics to the theme song for "Fame" are utterly infectious. Even we wanted to get up off our seat, jump on top of our desk and bust out with "Remember my name... FAME...!" after we watched the premiere of the music video just now. Of course, our officemates here who are currently working hard on the rest of VMA night might give us some odd looks, so instead of showing off some of (no doubt awesome) dance moves, we've decided to gift you with something even better: the full music video in all it's remixed glory.
Press play above to learn how to fly, and after the jump check out what a few of the movie's stars (including Naturi Naughton whose powerful vocals you heard throughout the song) had to say about the movie.
Though Naturi (who was most recently seen channeling Lil Kim in the Biggie Smalls biopic, "Notorious") admits she hadn't seen the original "Fame" ("It was a little bit before my time," she said with a laugh) until she auditioned to play Denise in the upcoming version, she was really inspired by the overall message of the movie and appreciated that a contemporary remake could really an impact.
"I said, oh wow, we can really take the old version of 'Fame,' bring some new life into it, reinvent it, you know, give it a more modern edge," she says, adding, "edgier music, great dancing, we've got some hip hop, we've got rapping, we've got singing, R&B. We've kind of taken it to the next level, which I'm really proud of."
Naturi's costar, Asher Book, expressed a similar passion toward the movie, recalling that at the time the script came his way, he has been planning to put acting off and focus on music (he's in the boyband V Factory) and his first year of college, but he just couldn't let this opportunity go. "I told my manager if something comes out that you think I would be really right for, or something that would be right for me, let me know," Asher remembers. "So everything I kind of passed on, and then something about 'Fame' that came up. Like I got the description, read the script, you know you just get one of those feelings ... I just felt really good about it. I was like, alright, when I go back to L.A., let's audition."
