A new season is upon us. It's the first day of fall, or autumn if you prefer the somewhat "classier" term, and that means we're getting a bit excited for the start of the school year and falling in love and for our fabulous warmer wardrobes all over again. It also made us think about all the movies that take place in the leaf-changing season. It's actually a fun game — while playing it in the office, we learned that a popular thread throughout movies about fall is death. Also, we noticed there were quite a few, er, cheesy flicks on the fall-themed roster as well.
So to honor the season, here's a list of a few movies to watch to get you into the spirit:
"Autumn in New York"
With a tag line like "He fell in love for the first time... she fell in love forever," it's hard to not watch this train wreck of a movie just because you can't help but get sucked into its nonsense. Richard Gere plays the rich, older lover to an ill, dying Winona Ryder. They fall in love, someone gets a watch, she wears wacky hats and then dies. Yes, folks, that sort of sums up what it's like in New York during autumn. Minus all of the above.

"Legends of the Fall"
If a woman wasn't already in love with Brad Pitt, then playing rebellious Tristan with a Fabio hairstyle was certain to make girls swoon. Sweeping, epic and full of all the drama that comes with a love triangle, "Legends of the Fall" is definitely one to include on the list, if not for the fact that fall is another word for autumn.
"Sweet November"
Okay so technically this doesn't have either "autumn" or "fall" in the title, but since it takes place in November, we are including it. Why? Well, it's pretty much "Autumn in New York" except in San Francisco and Winona and Richard have been replaced by Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves. Yeah, we know what you're thinking, this list contains the best movies of all time.
So, what are your favorite fall-themed flicks? Are they also tear-jerkers?
