Regina SpektorTrend alert! The newest fad in the music industry is not the supposed death of autotune (Sorry, Jay-Z); it's pop/rock stars lending their composing talents to the Great White Way.

Elton John scored big with his musical "Billy Elliot." Bono and the Edge are working on that (hopefully) upcoming superhero musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" and now Soviet Kitsch singer-songwriter Regina Spektor has signed on to pen the music for "Beauty," a 2011 production loosely based on the "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale, reports the L.A. Times. Read more...

It's all about balance when it comes to picking the perfect frock for the Emmys red carpet (not to mention strutting in those sky-high heels too!). Not as formal as the Academy Awards but not as playful as the Video Music Awards, the Emmys require a certain fashion middle ground -- meaning they're perhaps more prone to sartorial slip-ups.

But as we get ready for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards this Sunday, we're taking a look back at the red carpet looks that gave us goosebumps -- in a good way. Here are our five favorite looks from the past few years (in no particular order):

Katherine Heigl (2006) - Click here to see the dress
It's a toss up between the "Grey's Anatomy" star's 2007 white Zac Posen fishtail frock and this skin-toned (and skin-tight) Escada gown. Though she took home the Emmy in the Posen dress, we give Katherine the style award for her Escada since it shows of her, uh, assets the best. Read more...

The Five Likeliest Candidates Responsible For 'True Blood's Shocking Cliffhanger!

Have you seen the second season finale of "True Blood" yet? If so, read on! If not, be warned -- there are plenty of spoilers ahead, so proceed at your own risk!

We still have several questions about the "True Blood" finale, but the biggest one by far involves Sookie Stackhouse's (Anna Paquin) main squeeze, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). The century-old vampire effectively became this season's Lafayette by the end of the finale -- or, in other words, the main focus of our "True Blood" withdrawal between seasons two and three. We’ve all watched the newest “New Moon” trailer, which debuted in extended form the Video Music Awards, at least 50 times and mapped out each scene to a particular part of the book, and for many of us, November 20th just can’t come soon enough.

The trailer already sends Twilighter's in a tizzy, but can you imagine actually being there to watch a scene come to life? Vanessa Seiger, 37, and Lisa Wilkins, 46, know it all too well. (I know ... I’m totally jealous too!)

The two entrepreneurs know exactly what it’s like to see Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the flesh, running around Italy as Bella and Edward, because they were lucky enough to get cast as extras in the heavily-anticipated flick!

Breathe, Anna Kendrick. When Movies editor Josh Horowitz was speaking with Anna at the Toronto Film Festival in regards to the Jason Reitman film she stars in, "Up In The Air," Anna took a second (or 29, to be exact) to share a bit with MTV about the book-to-film changes in New Moon. We got a little worried, though, when she gave her explanation all in one monologue. We'll wait for you to explain, Anna; we don't want you to pass out.

She gave some insight as to how the human characters read: Bella's high school friends will translate onscreen in "New Moon."

"The things about playing one of the human characters and the non-supernatural characters in the 'Twilight' series is we have a lot more liberty to make it our own and change things," Anna said. "People don't have that attachment that they do to the myth -- the world -- Stephenie Meyer created in terms of the supernatural aspect."

Taylor LautnerTaylor Swift is one lucky girl. She's uber-successful, uber-talented, has an amazing sense of style and, well, she also gets to star alongside Taylor Lautner in "Valentine's Day."

For the most part, the on-screen couple have been pretty mum about what fans can expect to see from them in the rom-com, but now Swift is giving us a hint. A very, very tiny, yet completely important hint.

We kind of assumed that there would be some sort of kissing going on between the pair, on-screen, obviously, because well it's been reported. And we always kind of assumed that kissing Lautner would be awesome since well, he's Taylor Lautner. So, it's nice to actually get that confirmation from the VMA-winner herself. She told Justjared.com, very simply that: "It was life-changing!” Read more...

'The Vampire Diaries': Season 1, Episode 2I must confess: although my capacity for vampire-related entertainment is reaching critical mass, last night's episode of "The Vampire Diaries" was great enough that I hardly even noticed that the storyline revolves around a couple of undead hotties -- a worthy follow-up to last week's promising pilot, for sure. Maybe it's that clever Kevin Williamson-brand banter ("It's easy -- boy likes girl, girl likes boy, sex," says Elena's blonde friend Caroline in what's surely the most egregious oversimplification of teenage relationships ever) that keeps drawing me in.

We learned several new things during last night's show. First, apparently all vampires like to read "Wuthering Heights" and quote it to the ladies. Seriously -- "Twilight" fans will know that it's already Edward and Bella's favorite book, and in last night's episode of "VD," Stefan quoted the classic to Elena before offering her a leather-bound copy that's been passed down in his family (a.k.a., uh, it's his, and he's really freakin' old). Tonight the VH1 Divas brought it on the red carpet. The ladies looked pretty much universally fabulous in their diva gowns, but two really stood out. And, Miley Cyrus and Jordin Sparks were probably the youngest of the bunch. Way to bring it, girls!

Miley kept it fun on the carpet with a decidedly rock n' roll ensemble. From behind, the black gown was extremely elegant: backless with a long train. Then, surprise! She turned around and the front was short, showing off some rather sexy fishnets. This look's not an easy one to pull off, but she did great with it (which is more than I can say for her "Party in the USA" performance outfit).

Jordin Sparks' gown was less rockin' and more elegant. The form-fitting dress really showed off her beautiful figure. The mix of black lace over pink included stones around the neck rendering additional jewelry unnecessary. The diva's face was flawless, especially her eye makeup (where can I get lashes like that?!).

Want more? Check out Jordin, Miley and the rest of the divas in our VH1 Divas red-carpet photo gallery.

Today could have very well been claimed Taylor Lautner Thursday on Twitter (we could go for that every week, as a matter of fact!) with how much our beloved Jacob was talked about. "Eclipse" director David Slade tweeted about filming, "Yesterday Taylor had to carry Kristen for several hours, he held it together - hope he can lift his arms today. Rain dumped on us all day." As if we needed another reason to be jealous of K-Stew! Elsewhere, Ryan Seacrest was out to get some information about his next possible project, reporting, "Seeing queen latifah in a bit to find out why she is apprently doing a project with taylor lautner from new moon!"

While Taylor takes over the movie world, it seems "Glee" is all the rage on TV (again!). Last night's guest star Josh Groban  told viewers via Twitter, " thanks for watching tonight...whole cast of glee are super down to earth and amazingly talented. stephen tobolowsky is so cool!!" and Chris Colfer, who plays the fabulous and funny Kurt, also sent out love to fans: "Thank you all so much for your comments on tonight's episode! Make sure to tune in next week to see even more of Kurt's journey! ;)." Luckily, Michelle Branch is passing on a message about all our admiration, " On my way to a meeting at Fox. Gonna tell them how much I love Glee!"

Check out what else celebs were twittering about today, including Justin Timberlake's not-so-secret Emmy surprise, Kendra Wilkinson puts some tabloid rumors to rest and Katy Perry's strange doll incident. Get all your Twitter needs and follow us @hollywoodcrush! Read more...
