Good news, RPattz fans. Revolver Entertainment is kind enough to be releasing a new DVD “Robsessed” for the on Nov. 10 for $20 giving you a special look "inside the life of Robert Pattinson." Just one question for you, Revolver: Where are you getting this exclusive, revealing information? What “all areas” are you accessing?
It’s no far-fetched statement to say Robert and his female Kristen Stewart, are two of the most elusive stars to get the inside scoop on in Hollywood. In a recent interview with Interview mag, Kristen admitted, "I don’t leave my hotel room—literally, I don’t. I don’t talk to anybody about my personal life, and maybe that perpetuates it, too. But it’s really important to own what you want to own and keep it to yourself."
Nonetheless, this private attitude doesn’t seem to stop tabloids and the press (ourselves included) from jumping on any are-they/aren’t-they story out there. The UK version of OK! Magazine even went as far as to fabricate quotes from Robert’s "Harry Potter" costar Emma Watson saying Rob and Kristen were together. The story ended up getting them attention, but more in the form of negative backlash. One Australian tabloid had a story in July saying Kristen was pregnant with Rob’s baby. The picture of Kristen’s apparent “baby bump” wasn’t even a picture of Kristen herself!
In June, MTV's “Twilight” expert extraordinaire, Larry Carroll, had a chance to sit down and talk with Rob’s costar Mike Welch about Rob’s sky-rocketing fame. Mike said he felt the two most famous people in the world were US President Barack Obama and Robert, but expressed concern over the continued fame's affect on Robert’s health and sanity into the future. He adds that, knowing the person Robert is, he finds it strange Rob is being elevated to heartthrob status (besides his good looks, of course). “It’s so funny,” he said. “I know Rob; he’s a wacky guy.”
So which Robert Pattinson is being presented in this delving inside look at the life of the star? Is it the real Robert that Mike Welch knows, who hides from the press and is just looking for some privacy? Or is it the construct the media and fans have created who is farther from the Robert only his friends know and somewhat of a cross between Robert and Edward Cullen? Either way, how can Revolver have found the true story of Robert Pattinson when he had to be forced by his onscreen father to even send one tweet on Twitter?
My advice is to save your $20. “Robsessed” will show you Rob’s “path from a young schoolboy, to his early modelling and acting jobs, all the way through to landing his dazzling role in the Twilight saga,” but it’s not going to tell you any more about the Brit you really want to know than your supermarket tabloid aisle.
What do you think: do you agree with our sentiments? Or, will you be buying the DVD?
