So "Criminal Minds" may not be the most Crushworthy of TV shows since it's about criminal profilers, and, well, that's not at all that sexy. But, if you happen to be one of the people who do tune in week after week to see what kinds of crimes that team can solves then you'll know there's a hidden gem of in the midst. That's why this week we want you to get to know "CM" star Matthew Gray Gubler as our Hump Day Hottie.
Press play on the video below to see more of Matthew, and then keep reading for more killer details about him.
Vital Stats: The 29-year-old Las Vegas native is admittedly socially awkward and identifies very deeply with "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Larry David. "I've never watched a show where I'm literally like good grief," he said of his idol. "It's like watching video footage of my life."
Apparently that life doesn't include any nights out on the town as he admits he hasn't been on a date in a while. We don't know if that means he's single or not, but we're keeping our fingers crossed he is!
Where you might have already seen him: He's been on "Criminal Minds" for five seasons now, but you may also know him as one of the interns in "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou." Plus, he played Joseph Gordon Levitt's pal Paul in "(500) Days of Summer." Aside from his amazing performance in the flick, he apparently did a good job of hurting his knee while promoting it.
"I was saving a kitten from a storm drain. I just try to do what I can to make this world a better, shiny place," he said, then fessed up that he actually hurt it while dancing to promote "Summer." Perhaps he was just overzealous on his feet?
Why you should take notice of him now: Well, the new season of "Criminal Minds" is underway and it seems that Dr. Spencer Reid, who he calls the "damsel in distress" of the show, will be sitting a lot this season thanks to his injury. Not that that means he'll be gun slinging any less. He already shot a man in the first episode. "I have the best aim. I think every bullet I've fired has been a direct aim," he said of skills.
But his season premiere show down wasn't quite as memorable as the time that Dawson Leary had his way with Reid. "I'm a lot smarter than I am on the show. I really have to kind of dumb it down," he joked about playing the prodigy profiler. "I don’t think I'm much like him at all. I look very similar to him. I'll tell you that. He's much sharper than I am. He is a little street smart. After being kidnapped and shot full of heroin by James Van Der Beek [in 2007] you start getting some street sense about you."
And in case you're wondering, they'll be a vampire on this season of the show, courtesy of Gavin Rossdale. "I've noticed that craze as well," he said of the bloodsuckers. "The thing is being Spencer Reid for five years, [vampirism] is a pretty common delusion. It kind of best fits if you're going to best pick something for a rock star."
Until next Wednesday, when we nominate yet another hottie, you can get the rest of your man candy fix by clicking on Matthew's photo below to see who else is in our backlog of studs!
