It’s called "Leap Year." It only comes around once every four years. The reasoning for a leap year is to keep our calendar synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal calendar. So February 29th is added to the calendar making 366 days in a year. After what seemed to be the inevitable, this upcoming year we finally get a film about this odd occurrence. Who would have thought a romantic film could be made about a leap year?
Amy Adams portrays Anna, someone who seemingly has everything in control. After a hint from her friend, she is expecting a marriage proposal from her boyfriend (Adam Scott from "Step Brothers") only any day now. One night she goes out to dinner only to receive a pair of earrings to utter disappointment. Anna’s boyfriend then departs to Dublin, Ireland for a business trip.
Anna later hears of a myth from her father about a man having to accept a marriage proposal on a leap year in Dublin. At first, Anna is reluctant to go but then she gives in and takes a flight to Dublin. After her flight is diverted, she ends up in Wales. Taking a ride to Dublin with a charming stranger (Matthew Goode), she goes through a series of trials and tribulations to reach her destination. The end of the film trailer shows her boyfriend proposing. After all she has been through, is this what she really wants?
Personally, I found the trailer to be a bit revealing. What do you think, Crushers?
