In some of their final stops on the New York City press tour for "New Moon," Robert Pattinson visited the set of "Late Show with David Letterman" and Kristen Stewart hung out with Jimmy Fallon on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
The Letterman show was fueled with the topic of "New Moon." In his opening monologue he commented that vampire teens stay up all night and then sleep all day, adding, "Isn't that every teenager? When you think about it, isn't that what other kids do?" and elaborating, "These teenagers not only drain you of your blood but they also empty your refrigerator." In his mockery of Barack Obama's interview with Fox News, he claimed the number four highlight of the interview was he began a feud over which twilight star is hunkier, Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner.
When Rob finally did take the stage, wearing a black blazer and pants and a baby blue button up shirt, Letterman's first question was whether it was true Rob is constantly lambasted with fans wherever he goes. "Only when I'm working. I try and avoid it as much as I can," Rob answered. "I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe it's some kind of scent or something."
Rob told the story of, when he was filming in Spain for "Little Ashes," a girl stood in front of his apartment for three weeks. One day, when he was bored and lonely, he went down to her and asked, "Do you want to just go out to dinner or something? No one else wants to hang out with me."
He said she took her out to her parent's restaurant for dinner. "I kind of complained about everything in my life for two hours, and then she gave me the bill at the end and she was never outside my apartment again," Rob said with a laugh.
Letterman then whipped out the fan favorite magazine cover of Rob and Kristen, Harper's Bazaar, and asked Rob without any hesitation that he and Kristen were dating, correct?
"I've been so kind of cryptically avoiding this question throughout the entire —" Rob started, acting as though he actually would answer the question, and then Letterman told him not to answer it then and moved on to asking Rob to talk about the "Little Black Dresses" tease on the front cover. Damn you, David Letterman. Damn you.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent, who made a surprise appearance at the "New Moon" L.A premiere, shared with Jimmy Kimmel on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" why exactly he showed up. After giving quick answers as to how "Twilight" was a nice love story and "New Moon" was whatever, he said, "Having it be from an independent studio is amazing." When Kimmel asked him whether he was pro-vampire or pro-werewolf, 50 replied, "I'm pro-money. That's money, Jimmy. Fo' surious." Staying true to the name, 50 Cent.
Jimmy Fallon was gushing like a little school girl about "New Moon," which he said he saw a few nights before and loved. "When I was coming in today hundreds of fans were standing outside yelling, 'Jimmy! Jimmy! Move out of the way so we can see Kristen!'" he joked in his monologue. He added, "There's a 25 to 30 minute scene of Taylor Lautner taking his shirt off. Each ab gets its own close up."
"Hopefully on DVD there will be some hidden ab scenes," he added with a laugh.
When Kristen finally did take the stage in a little black strapless dress with her hair slicked back and up, we're pretty sure Jimmy was more excited than anyone else in the studio to see her. At numerous points during the interview he informed her they should be "besties" and at one point even called her "Bella," which elicited a weird look from her at the camera.
Kristen was apparently on Martha Stewart earlier that morning, but that instead of talking about the best pumpkin pie recipe like Kristen wanted to do, all Martha wanted to do was talk about Rob. Martha had apparently had a dream where she hung out with Robert and thought he was really cool and down to earth (insert some "LOL!"s here please). Kristen's response? "I was like dude, I should hook you guys up," she said with a laugh. Once again: Damn you, Letterman. Damn you.
They closed out the night with a quick game Jimmy had concocted for KStew. Taylor Lautner is going to be on the show tonight, and Jimmy had heard Kristen had quite the arm on her, so he set up some footballs and told her she had to throw as many footballs as she had to until she broke five of the plates he held extended from his body. She only missed one. We repeat: Jimmy Fallon is the biggest "Twilight" fangirl ever.
The "New Moon" stars will be appearing on talk shows all week, so keep reading Hollywood Crush's Twilight Watch for the latest.
