"New Moon" has now earned it's place in box office history — as the movie with the third-biggest opening weekend of all time (with $140.7 million and still going). It's obvious to us (as it has been!) that this franchise has thus earned a permemant place in your hearts.
We've kind of been getting a bit of "Twilight" fever over here at MTV (can you blame us?) and in turn it made us ask ourselves: what would the world look like if the characters in the movies took over every facet of entertainment? Alas our Total "Twilight" Takeover photo gallery was born. When you click on the photo of Robert Pattinson as — yes! — the King of Pop and Taylor Lautner as — yes! — Michelangelo's David (that bod is not far off from Jacob's, right?) below, you'll be transformed into a alternate universe where Esme dances to "Party in the U.S.A.," Bella rides a motorcycle...with Kristin Cavallari, and Jane attends classes with Rachel and Finn!
Crushers, where in your mind could you see the cast of "New Moon" fitting in in pop culture?

Ever since “Twilight Saga” star Billy Burke told us about the cameo of new wave rocker Peter Murphy in “Eclipse,” fans have been trying to figure out where his Spanish vampire will fit into director David Slade’s movie. So, when we caught up with series screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, we had her shed some light on the dark flashback involving the former Bauhaus frontman.
“That’s cool, I didn’t know he was playing it,” she said of the scene, remembering it in the script but unaware that Peter had been cast in the role. “That’s one of the great things about ‘Eclipse,’ is that Stephenie [Meyer] goes into some of the backstories of ‘How did the wolves come to be?’ and ‘How did Rosalie come to be?’ and ‘How did Jasper come to be?’”

FROM MOVIES BLOG:
1. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" ($72.7 million)
2. "The Blind Side" ($10.9 million)
3. "2012" ($8.1 million)
4. "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" ($3.6 million)
5. "Planet 51" ($3.2 million)
You don't have to be a mind-reading vampire with diamond-encrusted flesh to know who this weekend's box office champion will be. With "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" in over 4,000 theaters nationwide, there was virtually no chance that the continued romance of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan would fall anywhere short of first place — but perhaps no one could have predicted just how far ahead of the competition "New Moon" would end up.

"Not only am I the host of the show, but I'm also a vampire and a werewolf," Jimmy Kimmel said during his introduction of last night's episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" "I hope I don't have to kill anyone tonight."
This kicked off the "New Moon"-heavy episode, which featured the only interview of Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson together. It also featured a performance by Death Cab for Cutie, whose "Meet Me At The Equinox" was the first single off the album.
Ever since he responded to then-girlfriend Sara Silverman's admission of indiscretion with Matt Damon by getting Harrison Ford, Lance Bass and Josh Groban to film an anthem to his relationship with Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmel has been my favorite late night talk show host. He cemented that even more when he asked Taylor Lautner the best question yet out of the "New Moon" press tour ...

FROM MTV.COM:The big story this weekend may not only be about how awesome "New Moon" is — there will probably be a lot of talk about Taylor Lautner's new bulked-up physique. Some fans have even said that the muscles are a game-changer, and have switched their allegiances from Team Edward to Team Jacob.
"Amazing! Let me tell you, I think that was probably the best part of the movie — seeing him half-naked the whole time," Stephanie told MTV News after catching a midnight screening of "New Moon" in New York City.
Other fans not only loved the muscles, but also Jacob's new shorter 'do in the movie. "Taylor definitely stole the show," fan Melissa gushed. "This was all about Taylor."

Twitterting Twilighters, your day has finally arrived! So while you line up to finally see "New Moon" for the first (or second...or third...) time today, you might just run into someone famous. It seems Hollywood can't stay away from the "Twilight" craze ("The Hills" star Lo Bosworth got an early start, "twilight at 1050am? okay!") either, especially when it comes to the Team Jacob/Team Edward debate. Actress ("Friends") and comedian Aisha Tyler tweeted, "Just left New Moon. Wasn't one female in there younger than 25. And that is because Jacob is hotter n' yo granny on hot flashes. #teamjacob" And while she might also be older than 25, "One Life to Live" star Bree Williamson felt like a tween again today, posting, "Dear New Moon, thank you for making my heart happy and my soul 16 again!! 'sigh'...."
As "New Moon" continues to make young Hollywood swoon, news of Oprah's impending departure from television is having the opposite effect. Oprah herself (pictured) announced on her Twitter today, "Big Day....tune in my tweet friends." Singer Rob Thomas pondered, "OPRAH is going to stop filming her show in 2011. but......who will tell me what to feel?" and "Biggest Loser" trainer Bob Harper cried, "What are we going to do without OPRAH!!!" But, it was Ashton Kutcher, who came up with how Oprah's fans can cope today, tweeting, "Let's send Oprah 4 million hugs today!"
To find out what else had the celebrity Twitterverse buzzing, check out the rest of Friday's best tweets, including Jessica Simpson's birthday wish for her nephew, Justin Bieber's new baby bro, and Neil Patrick Harris' subtle Twitter tricks to get you to vote for him in this year's People's Choice Awards! Robert Pattinson was the latest in "New Moon" stars to stop by "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" for a chat with the lovely host. On the episode, which was pre-taped (he is a busy guy after all), our beloved R-Pattz discussed house hunting, fans getting naked and Canadian-American geography. His entire family was there to witness the fun, though they sat in a makeshift section to the side of the actual audience. "I like how they're corralled," Rob joked. "That's the way I like to keep my family. Just, like, in a pen."
Rob said "New Moon" mania has brought him to five or six countries in the past week, but as we know already, it's pretty much impossible to him to actually leave his hotel room. He told Ellen that if he could do anything for a day, he'd try to find a house. "It's very, very difficult, I always think, just the actual process of looking for a house. If someone's following you it defeats the entire purpose of trying to find a secret house."

"Twilight" … in animation … with a different ending? Now that’s certainly original. You need to watch this clip that just went live on HowItShouldHaveEnded.com, a site that pokes fun at "questionable" movie endings by morphing them into a whole new storyline. The short starts off at the end of "Twilight" where Bella has been bitten and mangled by evil vampire James. She is dying, or well, uh, "turning into a vampire." All the Cullens are shown coupled around Bella in a reenactment, and it's more of a laughingstock than anything else.
The new ending has Bella turning into a bloodsucker after Edward ponders for a moment being with an old grandma while he still has the appearance of a young 17-year-old. Alice jokes she can see into the future and sees Jacob getting bigger with washboard abs, stealing Bella from Edward. With jokes from all the Cullen members, it’s very comical and makes light of one of the movie franchises that has just about everyone talking this week. (Two words: "New Moon.")
HISHE, which recently partnered with Starz Digital Media, was launched in 2005 after the terrible ending of the "Flight of the Phoenix" remake coerced a few creative minds to redo the finale. Now, millions of streams later, we think it's about time they mocked the beloved vampire franchise!
What did you guys think of the clip?

Much like Miley Cyrus' cameo in the sequel to "Sex and the City: The Movie" was once one a big mystery, we've now unearthed details about another thespian's (this time it's an Academy Award winner!) guest stint.
In October, People reported that Penelope Cruz would be appearing in the film (which is slated to be released in 2010) as a banker, and while we can't exactly confirm if her financial abilities are going to be highlighted, we can shed more light on the logistics behind her part. "I'm in it for very, very little time," she told MTV News during a press event for her next film "Nine." "It's a collaboration that I did because I am a huge fan of the show and the movie and Sarah Jessica Parker."

If you're like a very large majority of Twilighters out there, there's a good chance you've already seen "New Moon" and have purchased a ticket to go see it again this weekend. Well, if you fall into that category, than director Chris Weitz really hopes you keep your mouth zipped "The final scene is extraordinarily emotional, and it leads to a very potent climax," he told MTV News on the red carpet of the NYC screening of "New Moon." "And it's kind of a spoiler, which I hope people won't give away."
That ending — a special moment between two characters that rhyme with Nella and Nedward — and the way it appears in the movie was plotted very carefully by the filmmaker and his team. "Everything about it was planned to reach that ultimate moment," Chris noted. Looking back at the overall film, he admits he's very optimistic about how it will be perceived among the world. "I feel it was as close to the final product as I could make it, which was an honest version of the book and something that a fan would appreciate," he said. "So it's not made for any particular demographic, except for the reader of the book who really wants to see it visualized."
Do you agree with Chris' vision? And will you be keeping the ending a secret over the next few days?
