The dawn of a new year is always the best time to examine where we went wrong in the previous 365 days. So, as 2010 begins, we here at Hollywood Crush are making our annual New Year's resolutions — they involve going to the gym more, eating better, watching less reality TV — you know, the usual. (I'm also contemplating starting a pool to see which of these I break first ... and when.)

For our favorite movie and TV characters, resolution-worthy problems are a bit more complicated. From "Gossip Girl" student, little Jenny Humphrey's over-reliance on eyeliner to "90210" teach Mr. Matthews girl problems (one of his 99 problems is most definitely female-related), 2009 was a tricky year. Here are our self-imposed New Year's resolutions for pop culture characters from "New Moon," "True Blood," "Glee," "Harry Potter" and more!

Jacob Black ("The Twilight Saga"): Wear more shirts. Until I turn 18, at least.

Jason Stackhouse ("True Blood"): Wear fewer shirts.

Its not hard to see why Lady Gaga ranked as MTV News' Woman of the Year for 2009. From her catchy dance tunes to her epic performances, the New York native had us caught in a so-bad-it-was-good romance all year long. But, what's more signature Gaga than her performances is her collection of crazy couture. Amidst the topiary of feathers, chorus line of leotards and bounty of skull-crushing headdresses, we realized something: The eccentric pop star's fashions totally reflected the chaotic, cuckoo year that was 2009. Hence, a look back at the singer's expository styles:

WE SAVED FACE

It was a tough year for many folks, what with the recession and unemployment on the rise. We all tried to make the best of it and no one saved face more than Lady Gaga—by covering hers. Whether it be a scarlet-hued lace shroud or a Zorro mask, the singer's "Poker Face" was probably the most covered part of her body in 2009.

New Year’s Eve brings so much to look forward to, from those oh-so-decorative glasses to acknowledging your New Year’s resolution doesn’t start just quite yet. But, let’s face it, nothing trumps a perfect New Year’s kiss at midnight. So while you plan on you who’ll pucker up with for January 1, 2010 we decided to take a look back at who had the best NYE smooches on the big and small screen.

Kim Cattrall and Jason Lewis in “Sex and the City: The Movie”

It wasn’t the happiest of New Year’s Eves’ for the entire “SATC” gang (Carrie was still heartbroken over Big, Miranda and Steve still weren’t back together), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Smith (Jason Lewis) spent a romantic and low-key NYE together. Adorned in matching sparkly robes and accompanied by their, er, eager pup, the two exchange gifts and kisses set to Mairi Campbell & Dave Francis’ beautiful take on “Auld Lang Syne.”

With only two days to go, it's time to start thinking about how you, dear readers, are going to make 2010 a better year. "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Stacy Keibler pondered, "Have you thought about your resolutions yet?" and throughout the week celebs have been answering. While Alyssa Milano shared something for everyone, "Bwahaha! 10 New Year's Resolutions People On Twitter Need To Make http://bit.ly/7JC4ek" (Alyssa later revealed hers was to have "Better body posture"). Keke Palmer got a little more personal and posted: "my new year resolution is to stop biting my nails......" But, Keke wasn't the only star sharing their plans for 2010, in fact, comedian/actor Michael Ian Black told followers about his rather unconventional plan, posting, "New Year's Resolution: Use more gravy."

Of course when it comes to New Year's Eve, it's not just about the resolutions. In fact, it's all about location, location, location! "It's Complicated" cutie Hunter Parrish (pictured) tweeted about his NYE destination, "Excited to be here seeing my Parrish family for New Years! Hello Kansas! (do people here even know what Twitter is...?)" Elsewhere, Rachelle Lefevre departed for festivities, "Off 2 San Francisco 4 New Year's w friends. Wishing everyone a great one!" But, besides San Fran and Kansas, it sure seemed like Miami was the hottest NYE spot for many celebs. Leighton Meester reported she was, "burning up miami," as was Nina Dobrev (just not in the same way), writing, "Not feeling so hot, but I'm stil going to get hott- Will Smith said it best- "Welcome to Miami, bienvenido a Miami!!" :D" Also in the Sunshine State was Tom Felton, who tweeted , "enjoying miami, relaxing and enjoying the contrasting weather from london!! still wearing factor 50 :( as draco can't come back with a tan!!"

Read below for more of today's top celebrity tweets, including Matt Lanter's not-so-fun New Year's surgery and how Taylor Swift's Christmas tree might just go up in flames! Don't forget to follow us on Twitter all the way into 2010 @hollywoodcrush and be sure to have a safe and happy New Year!

It's been a crazy year. The King of Pop passed, a black man was elected president and the world was taken over by "New Moon" mania. Thanks to all these memorable moments, we wanted to a look back at our four favorite moments from MTV News' photo collection, "2009: The Year in Photos."

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson got close and cuddly over the summer up in Vancouver while shooting "Eclipse," and their tender moment at a Kings of Leon concert took the world — and the tabloids — by storm with speculation. Though they still have not admitted to a relationship, we at least know Kristen Stewart is not a lesbian.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with staff members. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.

If the fact that it's winter and December didn't give it away, you might've guessed from looking at the Spotted! photos from oh, every other day this week that its pretty freakin' cold in New York City right now. That's why "The Vampire Diaries" star (and recently named number three Hump Day Hottie of 2009) Paul Wesley kept warm in a slick black pea coat as he headed into the Cort Theatre to watch Scarlett Johansson and Liev Schreiber in the first preview of the Arthur Miller play "A View from the Bridge" on Monday night. Hmm, the theater sounds like a good way to pass the time before "VD" returns in January.

To get a better look at Paul's stylish winter coat, click on the photo above! After the jump, find out what family man we caught out on a wintery day.

As we get ready to raise our glasses of champagne and ring in the New Year with a stanza of "Auld Lang Syne," it's not only a time to look forward but also a time to reflect on the past. The '00s brought us a lot of moments we won't soon forget, including some seriously memorable New Year's Eve bashes hosted by yours truly, MTV. We had such a good time partying over the past decade, we're having a hard time picking a favorite moment. Do you have one? Let's do a little recap to refresh your memory.

2001
Way back in 2001, when boy bands like 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys still rocked the charts, Lance Bass helped us ring in the New Year. A slew of stars watched the ball drop in 2002 including Jaime Pressly who co-hosted the night with Carson Daly. Willa Ford was there as was O-Town (remember them!?!), Mandy Moore and Ja Rule.

The Simpson sisters have been through a lot, and much of their own personal highs and lows have played out in the public spotlight. While Jessica typically receives most of the attention, Ashlee has been making headlines lately, specifically with her acting career, and Jess has been by her side, supporting her every step of the way.

Ashlee recently made her Broadway debut in "Chicago" on November 30, and Jessica not only attended opening night, but according to People, she's since checked out the show four more times! "Roxie was all Heart!" Jessica tweeted of her sister's performance in the musical. "Watching her up on that grandiose stage made me the proudest sister in the world. I love ya honey, I love ya!. Grrrrrrr"

FROM MTV.COM : It seems that 2009 was the year that it was cool to be out-there when it came to style. Whether it was Taylor Swift's classic fashion sense or Rihanna and Lady Gaga's cool, avant-garde aesthetic, style this year wasn't about what people wanted you to be, but how you wanted people to see you.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift definitely sparkled this year, and we don't mean just career-wise. On top of owning the charts, headlining a successful tour, winning every possible award (including the one that sparked that infamous VMA moment) and hosting "Saturday Night Live," the singer looked impeccable at every event she attended and red carpet she walked thanks to her love of sequins.

Emma Roberts and her superstar aunt, Julia Roberts, are in the upcoming rom-com "Valentine's Day," and it's not the first time the two have shared the screen. According to Emma's Wikipedia page she once had an uncredited role as an extra in Julia's "America's Sweethearts." Well, now that the two are sharing credit onscreen, we were wondering if Julia, or even her actor dad, Eric Roberts, ever offered Emma any pointers?

The answer is no! The family doesn't talk business when they're with each other. They simply don't have the time. "I think everyone is kind of like anticipating me to be an actress so they weren’t very surprised when I decided to be, but we don’t really talk about the whole aspect of work with each other," Emma told MTV News when she stopped by to chat about her flick "Hotel for Dogs."
