As we get ready to raise our glasses of champagne and ring in the New Year with a stanza of "Auld Lang Syne," it's not only a time to look forward but also a time to reflect on the past. The '00s brought us a lot of moments we won't soon forget, including some seriously memorable New Year's Eve bashes hosted by yours truly, MTV. We had such a good time partying over the past decade, we're having a hard time picking a favorite moment. Do you have one? Let's do a little recap to refresh your memory.
2001
Way back in 2001, when boy bands like 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys still rocked the charts, Lance Bass helped us ring in the New Year. A slew of stars watched the ball drop in 2002 including Jaime Pressly who co-hosted the night with Carson Daly. Willa Ford was there as was O-Town (remember them!?!), Mandy Moore and Ja Rule.
2003
We opted for comfort in '03, throwing a pajama party with the Foo Fighters, the late Brittany Murphy and Ashton Kutcher. Always the consumate joker, Justin Timberlake sent in a video message explaining why he couldn't attend: He sleeps naked and therefore didn't have any pajamas to wear to the party!
2004
In 2004, Hilary Duff and "Total Request Live" host Damien Fahey were the New Year's Eve emcees, accompanied by the cast of "One Tree Hill." And it seems strange now, but then-couple (and later married couple!) Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray shared a midnight kiss.
2007
Fast-forward to 2007 when "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere and "Laguna Beach" star Stephen Colleti hosted a gold-themed party. The two eventually dated, so I guess that makes us bona fide matchmakers. The following year, Perez Hilton hung out with the cast of "A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila" (sans Tila).
2009
Finally, in 2009, Miley Cyrus surprised a lucky teen named Alison with a pink-themed party she won thanks to her work with the Pink Ribbon Club, an organization that raises awareness about breast cancer.
It's been quite the decade, right? What's your favorite MTV New Year's Eve memory?
