It's been difficult coping on Thursday nights without our beloved "Vampire Diaries" to fill the time. Luckily, it's now less than two weeks until the show returns. In advance of 2010's first brand new episode (on January 21st), we've gotten our hands on these stills from the January 28th episode, called "Unpleasantville." You might notice that the characters are dressed in retro clothes — that’s for the '50s-themed Sock Hop the Mystic Falls High gang will be be-bopping on over to in the episode.
The first photo features Elena (Nina Dobrev) sitting on a couch with a concerned look on her face (that's kind of her permanent facial expression, no?), with Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) on either side of her. The brothers Salvatore are dressed in more modern-looking styles, so I can't decide if they're just not planning on going to the dance, or if they forgot about the dance's theme (or are too cool to dress the part?). Note Stefan's hand protectively grasping Elena's leg — looks like they're still together!
In the second shot, Damon appears to be doing what he does best (no, not being shirtless, so I guess second best): being all threatening and menacing. This time, the victim is Bonnie (Katerina Graham), who's sporting some adorable Bettie Page bangs, while Caroline (Candice Accola), in her adorable yellow flowered cardigan, looks on.
The third still is a little happier, with Elena smiling (finally!) while talking to Caroline. I dig Elena's 'do — I wonder how big of a Bumpit the wardrobe department used to get her hair that tall!
