Time to breakout the sketch pads and Mood bags! "Project Runway" returned last night on Lifetime, and to many fans' relief, the design series has catwalked its way back to its New York City stomping grounds. MTV News recently caught up with mentor extraordinaire Tim Gunn, and apparently we aren't the only ones elated over the series' Big Apple homecoming.
"To bring the show back here was a thrill and it was a relief," Tim revealed. "There's an energy and a vitality to the city that isn't replicated elsewhere, and I think the designers just pick up on that."
The designers will also see much more of judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia, who were absent during much of the series' L.A. run because of the cross-country commute. And, as always, there will be plenty of high-profile guest judges, including Nicole Richie on tonight's season premiere.
"She was excellent, of course," Tim said of Nicole. "Though you'll hear her say that she's particularly fond of one designer's work, and I thought that designer was going home. But once Nicole Richie says, 'I love this,' that's not going to happen.
"[We only disagreed about] that one particular look," he jokingly added. "But I will say it's a matter of taste. And I keep saying, 'Thank God I'm a man. I don't have to wear those clothes.' "
What did you think of the season premiere of "Project Runway"?
