The Wizarding World of Harry Potter doesn't yet have an opening date (or even month), just a very vague "Spring 2010" that feels like it is ticking ever closer. But one thing fans excited to visit Universal's depiction of the beloved world can expect is something to look forward to: no price hike for Islands of Adventure.
Thierry Coup, VP of creative development for Universal Creative and head honcho of the project, said Wizarding World is basically just one of the Islands in Islands of Adventure, not its own theme park. Because of that, it means no extra ticket to gain admittance, and many more ways to have fun if checking out Ollivander's, riding Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and drinking butterbeer won't keep you occupied for the whole day.
"It's more immersive than any of our other lands here at Islands of Adventure," Coup added.
And even though the park hasn't opened yet, don't think Coup and company have any thoughts of stopping the park's expansion once it opens (although he did say they don't have any plans to build a "Harry Potter"-themed hotel — darn!).
"At Universal, we're always expanding and we're always looking to make things better for our guests and the fans of all the property we have here," said Coup. "I can't tell you exactly what our plan is today, but certainly we're not going to stop where we are to do. We never do. Certainly stay tuned."
Fans can look forward to more surprises than have already been announced when the park opens, though. When asked if there would be any special "Harry Potter" performances or shows daily, Coup dodged around the question.
"We always have some of that in our parks, so you can probably expect it, but we haven't really announced anything yet," he said, adding that it was in the "information coming soon" category of questions. "There will be stuff. We just haven't really given the details yet, so stay tuned and we'll be able to tell you more soon."
Despite all their attention to detail, though, there was one new creative idea we at Hollywood Crush brought to their attention: a parking lot 9 3/4. "I like that idea," Coup said with a laugh. We're hoping that we will get an honorary parking space in there for our creative contribution if they decide to go through with it!
