It's a good thing for Miley Cyrus that her new Nicholas Sparks movie doesn't come out until next month, or "Dear John" stars Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum might have to run into her in a dark alley somewhere, if you know what I'm saying. Amanda and Channing managed to snag the number one spot at the box office from megahit "Avatar" this weekend, and they told MTV News that they would have no problem taking down Miley, too. "If 'The Last Song' was coming out the same weekend as 'Dear John,' we'd have to collaborate on some sort of sabotage mission," Amanda jokingly said in an interview.

In all seriousness, though, Channing said that he and Amanda aren't actually worried that another Sparks book-to-movie adaptation is coming out so soon. "I think all his films are very, very separate from one another with one theme: love," he said. "We're not competing for the same weekend."
Nicholas Sparks is indeed a master at writing love stories (see: our list of ten ways in which the author has changed the world). As Channing said, "He's got, like, a magic wand when it comes to heartstrings. I think he's a hopeless romantic himself and he just really loves writing about it in really sexy places and really sexy ways. Not to be cheesy or melodramatic — everyone wants to feel loved and that their love is special, and when they read about these once-in-a-lifetime sort of relationships and loves, it's a great place to go away and escape."
