With the release of "Remember Me" looming ever closer, it feels like a little father/son reunion as Robert Pattinson and his onscreen father Pierce Brosnan trade comments back and forth in interviews about the pleasures of working with one another.
The central theme seems to be how each deals with fame. In the latest issue of Vogue, Rob commented how Pierce confronts fans who recognize him ("Some people were glancing over at us in the restaurant, and he just went over and introduced himself. And it does work. It dissipates all the attention.") whereas Rob said he "just crawl[s] under the table."
When MTV News got a chance to chat with Pierce about his new film "The Ghost Writer," Pierce shared that after working through all of the insanity with Rob on "Remember Me," he feels the need to shelter Rob from the hysteria.
"I play his dad and there's a part of you, as a dad you feel protective toward the fellow," Pierce told MTV News.
Pierce, who self-admittedly loves the attention he gets from his fans, said all it would take was Rob to walk in for all the attention Pierce had been receiving to dissipate.
"By the time I walked up the steps of the plaza, he'd be coming up behind me and there'd be this cacophony, this blistering sound barrier of girls," he laughed. "They just love him to bits and he's a great lad."
And even the man who portrayed playboy James Bond in four films said he doesn't quite understand the hysteria attached to Rob. "It was really bizarre," Pierce said. "We were filming in Central Park South and the caravans are there and mine was very quiet and sedate and I'm reading my book and having a nice cup of coffee. Down the other end was Robert with 6,000 girls. I've never encountered such a thing."
