The fan-voted Orange Rising Star award was given to Kristen Stewart tonight at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards tonight. Kristen swept past the competition of "Adventureland" costar Jesse Eisenberg, BAFTA Best Actress 2010 winner Carey Mulligan, Tahar Rahim and Nicholas Hoult.
We're assuming a large part of the votes that went towards Kristen came from the "Twilight" fanbase, as they helped dominate fan-driven awards shows like the MTV Movie Awards, People's Choice Award , Teen Choice Awards and Kids Choice Awards in the past. But the leading lady of "The Twilight Saga" also has a slew of other big movies coming out this year, like Sundance hits "The Runaways" and "Welcome to the Rileys," so we think she well deserved her win.
Kristen didn't forget to thank the "Twilight" fans at tonight's awards ceremony, saying, "I have to thank all the fans of Twilight, for being the most devoted and attentive fans ever."
Unfortunately, Robert Pattinson did not present the award to Kristen tonight as we had hoped, instead presenting it to Best Original Screenplay winner Mark Boal, who won for "The Hurt Locker." Kathryn Bigalow's gem of a film swept the BAFTAs with six wins, including Best Picture and Best Director, which doesn't bode well for "Avatar" and its Oscar chances.
Mo'Nique's Best Supporting Actress win for her role in "Precious" also doesn't bode well for Anna Kendrick's Oscar hopes. The actress has won 23 awards for her performance to date, including a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild award and Sundance Special Jury Prize. Anna has won four for her performance in "Up in the Air."
Did you vote for Kristen? Are you happy to see her nab the BAFTA trophy?
