So here's the thing: we thought Kristen Stewart looked classy at this weekend's British Film Academy Awards in all white, but we did wish the dress had fit better (and that she had better posture!). Anyway, she seemed to channel at least one of our recommendations at the Elle UK Style Awards today. She wore a great pleated strapless Pucci dress, which we thought was much more form fitting than her Chanel piece at the BAFTAs. Still though, we wish the girl would stand up just a little bit straighter and smile just a little bit brighter for the cameras! After all, she's got reason, Kstew was announced as Elle's Woman of the Year — that's a pretty big deal!
Speaking of the BAFTAs, one of our faves from last night was Carey Mulligan, who looked super cute in a printed dress. In fact, she's been impressing us with her style throughout this award show season. But today's was a major disappointment because it looked more professional executive than Hollywood glamazon. Carey showed up in a totally boring dark blue, full sleeved top paired with a black bottom. The look was designed by The Row , which is Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion line.
Speaking of the twins, we understand that they can have a complex about wanting to be distinguished, but Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen went in totally opposite directions at this red carpet. Our take: Ashley looked completely glam in a Christian Lacroix gown, while Mary-Kate looked totally drab in black Lanvin.
Alright, "My So Called Life" fans, this one's for you! Jared Leto and Claire Danes (a.k.a. Jordan Catalano and Angela Chase) reunited at the Elle event! Amazing, we know. All we can think is, "You're so beautiful, it hurts to look at you…" although in this case, judging from Jared's outfit, Claire might have just been thinking "it hurts to look at you…no, like it actually hurts." Seriously, what was that boy thinking? Of all the days to sport an out of control mohawk, oversized jacket, mismatched scarf and odd tennis shoes, he just had to do it the day he'd be hugging Claire. Didn’t he know that "My So Called Life" fans would be gushing over this picture together for at least another decade? Anyway, at least Claire's look was pleasant. She wore a simple black Burberry dress with mesh sleeves, which would have been better if they were full.
When we first saw Naomi Campbell's dress on the red carpet, we couldn't help but think, "Where have we seen this before?" After a little digging through our sartorial memory, we remembered that "True Blood" star Anna Paquin wore something pretty similar at this year's Screen Actor's Guild awards. So, who wore it better? Definitely Naomi, who took home an award for Outstanding Contribution for her charity efforts. The cut was too deep, and the fit was off on Anna's dress (by the late Alexander McQueen). Naomi (also in McQueen), on the other hand, clearly upgraded the look. We liked the colors and the shape much better on her, although the fact that she's a model probably didn't hurt either.
