If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is trying to draw in a younger audience to bolster their ratings, they are certainly going about it the right way. Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron have added to the list of presenters that also includes Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. It will be Miley and Zac's second appearance at the show, and Taylor's and Kristen's first.
They are sure to be only a few of many prestigious actors presenting at the big show, but having such young bloods that are so popular with the teen crowd is a smart move. It will at least help offset the aversion created by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin — versus Andy Samberg, Jon Stewart or even Neil Patrick Harris — hosting the Oscars.
This is Taylor's second big appearance in the past couple months after he also presented at the Golden Globe. Even though neither Kristen, Taylor, Zac nor Miley have been nominated for an Academy Award (yet, at least), there is a certain respect factor in play for them to present such prestigious awards to their peers. The assumption that the James Camerons, George Clooneys and Kathryn Bigalows out there are their peers is an even bigger honor.
There's no word yet on what awards the four will be presenting, or if they'll even be presenting with each other or different people. Still, we're excited to see what the young stars will come out wearing, especially after Kristen looked so classy at the BAFTAs.
