What if you could tell just how long a relationship is going to last from the first kiss? I know, sometimes a first kiss can seem that promising — or discouraging — but nobody ever really knows in the beginning how well or badly a love affair will turn out. And that’s part of the fun, right? That mystery?
Well, a new romantic comedy titled “Kiss and Tell” is out to ruin that mystery for its lead character. According to Production Weekly's Twitter feed, that woman will be played by “Confessions of a Shopaholic” star Isla Fisher. Her character is somehow struck with the curse (or will the movie deem it a gift?) of knowing exactly how a relationship will unfold from that first contact.
The idea comes from screenwriters Dax Shelby and Robert Stevens, who aren’t a proven pair yet, though they have a number of scripts in development around Hollywood. Some of their other high-concept projects include a recently announced adaptation of the humor book “How to Succeed With Women Without Really Trying.”
That title could almost fit with the premise for “Kiss and Tell,” as well. After all, who would need to try at a relationship that’s already knowingly fated to succeed? I’m also reminded of such gift/curse movies as “What Women Want” and the upcoming gender-reversed semi-remake “What Boys Want,” starring Selena Gomez.
Bringing additional appeal to the romantic comedy is Sheldon Turner, a current Oscar nominee for co-scripting “Up in the Air.” According to Variety, Turner is co-producing “Kiss and Tell” with former Michael Bay associate Jennifer Klein.
Does the premise of “Kiss and Tell” sound promising — or discouraging — to you? What do you think of Isla Fisher as the leading lady?
