Coca-Cola has released a great new featurette for July's Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer-starring (and ShoWest award winning!) "Beastly," and where we were complaining about how little the teaser gave us to work with, this new featurette has given us everything we could have asked for.
It starts off with a brand new teaser at the beginning which sets up the story: Alex's Kyle Kingston is vain and beautiful, and because of that Mary-Kate Olsen's "witch" Kendra Hilferty sets a curse on him which makes him ugly. Vanessa's Linda Taylor is the hidden beauty at school ("What can I say? I'm substance over style," she tells Kyle early on) who Kyle notices after his transformation, and who he sets out to make love him so Kendra's curse will be broken.
The featurette marks two first appearances for two of the actors we are most excited about in "Beastly": Mary-Kate and Neil Patrick Harris. Neil plays the blind tutor Will Fratalli who is hired to help Kyle after his transformation.
"That change sort of makes him change what makes one beautiful, and what one finds beautiful in others," NPH said in the series of cast interviews at the end of the featurette.
When we first say the teaser trailer, we commented on how visually appealing "Beastly" look, and were surprised to find that was a specific active effort going on in production.
Because this is a film that's very much about the act of looking, it was an opportunity to create a lot of beautiful images in it," director Daniel Barnz said.
