With "Deathly Hallows" filming winding to a close, a whole world of opportunities is opened to the young stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise. Leading man Daniel Radcliffe in particular has gone out of his way to make sure he is not known only as Harry. His role as Alan Strang in both the London (2007) and Broadway (2008) presentations of "Equus" earned him a certain amount of controversy because audiences were a bit shocked to hear the boy wizard would be appearing on stage in the nude.
But /Film seems to have a scoop — or at least connected the dots — as to where Dan will be heading after "Deathly Hallows." We knew that the Nicholas Sparks novel "The Lucky One" was the next of his stories to be making its way to the big screen, but /Film thinks that Daniel has signed on to be the leading man.
Producer Christine Vachon announced in two tweets Thursday that she was "Heading to Doug McGrath's script reading, starring Daniel Radcliffe" and that "Daniel Radcliffe and Lily Rabe were AMAZING together!"
Considering it was just announced Tuesday that Doug would be directing "The Lucky One," the dots seem to connect themselves.
/Film also notes that Nicholas Sparks announced in an earlier interview that production on "The Lucky One" was set to start in May, which lines up with the current time line and when "Deathly Hallows" is set to wrap.
This film seems like it would be Lily's big break, considering her biggest film role to date was in the 2007 Catherine Zeta-Jones/Aaron Eckhart rom-com "No Reservations." "The Lucky One" tells the story of "US Marine Logan Thibault who finds a snapshot of a young woman when on duty in Iraq and feels that it brings him a tidal wave of good luck. After his tour is done and he returns to America, he sets off on a journey to track down the woman in his photograph."
We're going to step out on a limb and say Dan and Lily will be playing the film's leads. It's pretty exciting and a little shocking to see Daniel star in a film so different from "Harry Potter" — as a US marine, no less! — but we put our faith in the fact Dan will perform just as well without a lightning bolt scar.
