The final installment of the "Harry Potter" franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," is over 700 pages of tied-up plot lines and cathartic moments between the characters fans have had a chance to come to know and love — or hate — over the course of more than a decade. One of the most powerful scenes in the book is a scene where Harry has to walk through the Forbidden Forest and come face-to-face with his worst nightmare, Lord Voldemort.
The man behind the boy wizard, Daniel Radcliffe, had told MTV in July that the forest scene was one he was most excited to film out of the entire shoot. "The final walk into the forest is what I'm kind of dreading, because I don't know still how I'm going to do that," he had said.
But when MTV got a chance to catch up with the actor last week, the scene had already been finished, and he had managed to pull it off.
"It was really hard!" he said with a laugh. "It was just one of those things where I think, because I put a lot of pressure on myself to get it right beforehand, I wasn't able to relax and enjoy it as much as I might have done otherwise. So I was slightly annoyed about that."
Fortunately, Dan didn't have to film the scene alone. Spoilers are included beyond this point! He got to film the scene with one actor he had become particularly close with earlier in the series, but had faced an unfortunate demise in the fifth movie, "Order of the Phoenix." Gary Oldman reprised his role of Sirius Black as the ghost of Harry's dead godfather came back to offer words of comfort to Harry as he walked into the forest to face Volemort.
"It was one of those scenes that by the end of the third day of it, we were going, 'I don't know if I like this one as much as I did at the beginning.' It was really, really tough," Dan said. "But Gary was brilliant."
Dan was also joined by the ghosts of his parents, Lily and James Potter, and of the recently deceased Remus Lupin. Lily and James, played by Adrian Rawlins and Geraldine Somerville, have managed to have roles in the majority of the "Harry Potter" films even though they died before the events of "Sorcerer's Stone" took place. Remus, played by David Thewlis, was introduced in "Prisoner of Azkaban" along with Sirius/Gary, and has returned as a major character in "Order of the Phoenix" and "Half-Blood Prince."
"It was good to see them," Dan said.
