Pardon us, Pam Beasley, while we borrow your man for "Something." According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The Office" star John Krasinski is currently in negotiations to star with Ginnifer Goodwin in the big screen adaptations of the beloved chick lit books "Something Borrowed" and its follow-up, "Something Blue."
John would play Ethan, a good friend of Ginnifer's conflicted heroine Rachel. As fans of the books know, Ethan plays a much larger role in "Blue," so you'll have to wait a little longer for copious John screen time. The book's author, Emily Giffin, posted on her Twitter page this morning, "Nothing official yet... but.... hope you're all happy with John Krasinski as Ethan!" It seemed the reaction from fans, including us here at Hollywood Crush, is a resounding yes!
We think John (who, if all goes right, would be signed for a two-picture deal) would have been miscast as Dex, the man (who just so happens to be Rachel's best friend Darcy's fiance) that Rachel falls for, but having him take on the role of the sweet and always-helpful (albeit, overseas) friend Ethan, is just right. No word yet on who will play the handsome Dex or disdainful Darcy, though we've put up our own casting wish list in an earlier post.
"Something Borrowed" is rumored to begin filming this spring and is set to be directed by Luke Greenfield, who was also at the helm of the 2004 Elisha Cuthbert comedy "The Girl Next Door."
What do you think of John as Ethan? Love it or did you have someone else in mind?
