Yesterday we gave you the low-down on what "She's Out Of My League"star Krysten Ritter had to say about the upcoming Amy Heckerling comedy "Vamps" had to offer, and today we have some more news for you on the vampiric front.
Acccording to press release, Sigourney Weaver has joined the cast.
Sigourney is no stranger to the supernatural. First with the "Alien" series, then with "Ghost Busters 1" and "2," and now most recently with "Avatar," Sigourney has had to deal with the strange and bizarre again and again. But "Vamps" will be her first film featuring vampires, and her role could not be better suited.
Sigourney will play Ciccerus, the vampire queen who turned Krysten and her costar Alicia Silverstone's characters into vampires in the first place. For those of you who need a quick recap, "Vamps" tells the story of two fanged BFFs who live in modern day New York. They are, as everyone likes to pun, living the "good nightlife" until they fall in love and "each has to make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality."
Somehow we can't see Sigourney channeling a good mamma vampire here, and are picturing her more along the lines of Susan Sarandon in "Enchanted," replete with her cape and evil cackle. We're hoping that Sigourney is going to be a major player in the film though, and not just be shown in flashbacks to Krysten and Alicia's creation. Since production on "Vamps" is set to start in May, we should be hearing more details about the film soon.
What do you think of Sigourney as a vampire queen?
