If you're going through "The Runaways" withdrawal, don't worry, we've got your fix right here (yep we're kind of awesome)! Last week we brought you all the red carpet looks from the L.A. premiere of the new bio-pic starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning and this week it's on to The Big Apple. The stars hit the red carpet, decked out in designers duds (spoiler: we didn't love all the looks). Anyway, check out the post below for our fashion recap and let us know what you think!
Kristen, you've officially won us over. We haven't always been easy on your sense of style (let's face it, you've had some rough moments), but lately you've been hitting all the right notes. We'll be honest, we weren't sure if Kristen would be able to top her dress from the LA premiere of "Runaways," where she rocked a hot pink Doo.Ri dress, which we absolutely loved, but she came pretty close last night by appearing in a strapless, beaded Pucci dress that was youthful but also glamorous. We kind of wish the shoes had been a little more delicate, and we would have loved to see her wearing a touch more jewelry, but overall the look worked well and wasn't overdone. Oh, and we should also note that we definitely liked the slicked back hairstyle (mainly because she finally decided to change it up!).
We feel a little differently about Dakota though. We can tell that she has a knack for fashion (she was our girl crush this week after all!), but we think she needs to fine tune it just a bit (in other words: add some more edge!). As for her look at the premiere last night, we adored her Elie Saab dress (it was honestly super cute), and thought Dakota looked beautiful, but just couldn't get over the fact that the color washed out the young starlet. Our advice for D? Take some tips from Kristen: add some color (and risk) to your red carpet wardrobe.
There's no question that Kristen and Dakota bare at least a slight resemblance to the real-life rock stars, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, who they're portraying. But we're always amused when we see them all side by side, mainly because, when it comes to fashion, both Kristen and Dakota are on a totally different page (or era) than Joan and Currie. Take a look at the image above for instance, the real girl banders are decked out in black from head-to-toe, while Kristen and Dakota lack any trace of black in their dresses.
Michael Shannon we know you play a rock impresario Kim Fowley in the flick, but we're not sure that means you needed to channel him on the red carpet, too. Also, we'd like to see him in something a little more red-carpetish, you know, like a sports jacket maybe? The black long-sleeved tee is something any guy can pull out of his closet. Next time Michael, spruce it up a little. As for Riley Keough, who wore a black dress (again), we're going to repeat what we said about her look at the L.A. "Runaways" red carpet...take a chance! Come on Riley, you're Elivs Prestley's granddaughter, show us your inner goddess!
