Like screenwriter Allan Loeb promised, the Jennifer Aniston/Jason Bateman comedy "The Baster" did indeed have a name change, and today the first trailer for "The Switch" debuted (see it after the jump!). Something must be in the air, because today has been a really good day for debut trailers, and we're loving what "The Switch" has to offer.
Love, you say? Let us count the ways:
1. Jen and Jason do have"When Harry Met Sally" chemistry, though we're thinking Jason's character Wally is a bit more of a sap over Jen's character Kassie than Harry was over Sally. But we love seeing the two of them in action together because it makes the plot of the film seem a lot more grounded.
2. Patrick Wilson is the other potential donor! While this information has probably been around for a while, it is news to us, and we just love seeing him in another movie! We know he has range after watching him over the years in "The Phantom of the Opera," "Little Children" and "Watchmen," and we're excited to see how he pulls off a rom-com. Our guess: with flying colors!
3. That kid is so darn cute. While you might not recognize the face of the boy who plays Sebastian, you're sure to recognize his acting style. The young, earnest Thomas Robinson is the younger brother to Bryce Robinson, who played the young, earnest boy in "Valentine's Day" who had a crush on Jennifer Garner's character. Fittingly, Bryce will be playing a 9-year-old version of Sebastian at the end of the film. Still, we can't help liking Thomas a bit more from what we've seen in the trailer.
4. Jeff Goldblum is back on the big screen!!! What girl with the slightest nerdy sensibility can say that she hasn't had a bit of a crush on the man who brought Dr. Ian Malcolm and David Levinson to life? Jeff has been spending much of the past four years on TV, but we're glad to see him back where we belongs in theaters August 20. Sure, he is now 58, but that man will be a fox at any age!
5. For the second time today, a trailer has not given away the entire plot of a movie though we must admit, "The Switch" came pretty close. The trailer gave away a large portion of the plot, but then again that portion of the plot had been available since information for the film first hit the web. Therefore, we are giving it a slide, and are whole-heartedly loving what we've seen of "The Switch"!
What did you think of "The Switch" trailer?
