Though Amanda Seyfried seemed to confirm to E! at the Academy Awards earlier this month that she was set to star in Catherine Hardwicke's "The Girl With The Red Riding Hood," when she spoke with MTV News recently, she seemed to hint that wasn't the case.
"I think so. Negotiations," Amanda said about whether or not she would be starring in the film. "I don't know if I'm definitely doing it. I hope it works out."
Fans of "Twilight" were excited back in August when it was announced that Catherine would be directing the gothic fairytale. She said it would be a "super sexy" take on the story, and be very dark. But fans looking for Catherine to spit out the next "Twilight" will be in for a disappointment.
"This isn't going to be 'Twilight.' [Catherine has] made it clear," Amanda said, adding that the film is going to be "a gothic twist on a Brothers Grimm fairy tale."
And it seemed as though, if "Riding Hood" was going to be anything like "Twilight," Amanda would not have been interested. She told MTV she would not want to be at the center of that type of pop culture phenomenon, and still hasn't made up her mind how she feels about the series.
"It's hard, that type of movie," she said. "I still don't know how I feel about it, because the hype, it makes me not even want to be near that realm of that kind of genre. ... It became something else. It was an animal. A lot of people saw it, luckily, but it's become a stereotype."
Despite that, Amanda said she is really looking forward to a chance to work with Catherine.
"She's really an actor's director," Amanda said. "She's really heavily involved with casting, and she brings the actors in, and she has a lot of chemistry reads."
