Sure, we love that Vanessa Hudgens is really breaking out as a film star. And yes, of course we'd love to stare endlessly at Alex Pettyfer for days. We're even excited to see Mary-Kate Olsen back to making movies. But what really has us excited for CBS Films' upcoming "Beastly" is a chance to catch a glimpse of Neil Patrick Harris on the big screen.
MTV News recently caught up with Hollywood's newest darling in Las Vegas to talk a bit about the film. He seemed to think the "MTV cats" might like it (if you need more proof, please reread the above paragraph) and expressed his appreciation for his fellow cast members as well as the film. NPH was especially a fan of Vanessa, saying "she's gorgeous, super talented and the coolest chick you would ever want to meet."
While we already had Vanessa and Alex describe Alex's character Kyle for us, NPH elaborated a bit further, and his own character, Will's relationship with him.
"Alex's character gets a hex put on him that turns him physically ugly, and he has [to learn] what true beauty is, because he's kind of a douche," NPH said. "His dad holds him up in an apartment, and I'm the tutor that's hired to teach him things, and I'm blind. Therefore, I can't see his deformities."
Will guides Kyle through his courtship of Vanessa's character Lindy as best he can. However, since this is a modern retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," not all of Kyle's advances go according to plan.
"I think it's great to see Alex who plays the lead guy trying to win over Vanessa's character, because she ends up at the [apartment]; there's a whole sequence where he's giving her gifts and hoping that she likes him and she doesn't. It's very 'Beauty and the Beast,' " NPH said of his favorite scene in the film.
He recently saw the entire cut of the film for the first time, and was very impressed with it. "This is a very classy movie, actually," NPH promised. "It looks great. I think the performances are strong. I think it's better than your average teen film."
