We’re used to seeing photographs of celebrities all dolled up and dressed to kill but what do they look like without their “newsstand face?” This May’s issue of Marie Claire is showing us and they’re taking it one step further making "The Price of Beauty" star Jessica Simpson their guest beauty editor and all-natural cover girl, proving the best thing you can wear is confidence.
Next to the other glossy magazines, Marie Claire is sure to stand out! Looking beautiful in a light grey shirt and a simple necklace, Jessica’s hair is air-dried releasing gorgeous waves. Her makeup is kept simple because, well, she isn’t wearing any (though upon closer inspection, we think we noticed possibly traces of mascara and leftover eyeliner).
And if you think that’s the only photo you’ll be able to see of Jessica’s brave and confident look, think again. Inside the magazine are four more photos of her comfortably posing in her natural surroundings. Jessica poses almost superman-like surrounded by trees, next to the caption “People think updos are so hard. But they’re not. Your hair should look tousled and undone.” We think she’s superwoman for standing up and staying true to who she is.
Jessica and her hairstylist turned best friend Ken Paves also hit the streets for the issue, asking women around Los Angeles what makes them feel beautiful about themselves. They received answers ranging from skin color and short hair to one woman commenting that, “It’s nice being 5’10”. It’s easier to fit in jeans because I’m tall,” and Jessica responded that she always has to get her jeans hemmed.
Along with her VH1 TV Series and her gig as guest beauty editor, Jessica is also launching a program called “A Beautiful Me” which is geared towards helping women learn to feel beautiful and confident! The program is set to launch at the end of Jessica’s series in May but until then, check out how amazing she looks in May’s Marie Claire.
