Let's face it — Katie Cassidy is the best thing about "Melrose Place." Her delightful blend of bitchiness and humor make the show worth watching. But since the show is most likely not long for this world, it's a good thing Katie's booked a major movie gig.
According to Variety , she's set to star alongside Selena Gomez and Leighton Meester in the comedy "Monte Carlo," about two college students and a recent high school grad who pretend to be wealthy women in Monaco. While we're not exactly sure who Katie will play, Selena told MTV News last week that her character's name is Grace, a girl from Texas who saved up money to go to Paris for the summer with her BFF.
It's about time Katie snagged a leading part in a non-horror movie — the 23-year-old's next film is the new "Nightmare on Elm Street," which comes out at the end of the month. With such high-profile costars, "Monte Carlo" could be exactly what she needs to become a movie star. Or at least get some well-deserved recognition.
And if you weren't sold on the film already, Mr. Finn Hudson himself, Cory Monteith, is set to play the love interest. (Swoon!) This will be the "Glee" star's first major movie role since hitting it big. (As much as we love this movie, his turn as Kahill in the supremely underrated horror gem "Final Destination 3" does not count.) Since Selena, Leighton, and Katie are all TV stars trying to make it on the big screen, we think Cory will fit right in. But which jerk — er, we mean leading lady — will be the girl lucky enough to be wooed by his character?
Does the addition of Katie and Cory to "Monte Carlo" make you want to see the movie more? Do you think it'll help any of the cast members become huge movie stars finally? Or do you think the actors are better on the small screen?
