The “Glee” gang has been performing live so much recently — from the White House to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” — Gleeks are starting to feel like we’ve been seeing them on the road as much as at William McKinley High School. But all of this preparation is really leading up to the Glee Live! In Concert! tour, starting May 18 in Phoenix. And though the show just resumed on Tuesday, no one’s kicking back to enjoy its success.
“So, we wrap after the 26th of this month and then two days later we start our tour rehearsals,” Dijon Talton (Matt), told MTV News about the cast’s intense work ethic. “Every day, Monday through Sunday, for a couple of weeks, and then we go on tour for a couple weeks, four cities, I believe. They are mostly sold out, and then a month later, back to do 22 episodes of season two. So it’s kind of like no break, work, work, work. But we love it. We wouldn’t have it any other way.”
All work and no play? One would think that TV’s favorite ensemble would need a little downtime, but everyone from Heather Morris (Brittany) to Mark Salling (Puck) is embracing the nonstop work.
Heather chimed in that it’s going to be a rush to get everything ready for the road; “We haven’t started the rehearsals yet, but we will be starting them for only two weeks prior to the actual tour itself,” she confirmed. “And it’s going to be really rigorous, ‘cause we have to get a show together really fast. But we did the ‘Oprah’ show, and when we were done, it was like, ‘That’s exactly what it’s going to be like,’ and it was crazy.”
Mark made it clear that he’s ready to pull out all the stops for dedicated Gleeks. “We started rehearsals a little, but that’s going to be a great opportunity to get to the fans and give them a good show. I’m going to lip-sync my ass off for you,” he joked.
Others like Dianna Agron (Quinn) are already preparing for the effects of the long hours. “I’m anticipating sore muscles, lots of bubble baths,” the show’s cheerleader said. Meanwhile, Cory Monteith (Finn) has realized training methods all his own: “I’m ready for it. I’ve been working out: bench presses, bicep curls.”
Other things the gang should remember include fit in time to sleep and drink lots of water!
