Alex O'Loughlin's 'Back-Up Plan'? To Become Our Hump Day Hottie!

We really do like guys who have taken a turn for the dark and played a vampire at least one time in their career. And, we like Alex O'Loughlin even more because he's the kind of guy that has a — wait for it — back-up plan. Being that he's the latest hottie to share the silver screen with Jennifer Lopez ("The Back-Up Plan" comes out Friday), Alex has managed to earn a spot in our hearts as this week's Hump Day Hottie.

Vital Stats: This Aussie native, 34, grew up in Sydney and later studied his craft at the National Institute of Dramatic Art down under. The currently single actor admits that while he's still taken a back by our honor, he doesn't mind being considered hot at all.

"Hump Day Hottie? Ok!," he exclaimed before admitting he was a tad perplexed by the title. "Well... [being a HDH] makes me feel interested. It makes me feel curious. It makes me feel slightly tantalized. And a little confused," he teased before we interjected and told him the title comes from the day of the week. "I'm a little less concerned and a little less tantalized now that I know it's hump day because it's Wednesday, but I'm glad I get to be hottie for the week. That's good."

Where you might have already seen them: Alex appeared on an episode of "Criminal Minds," but we know him best from his work as the sexy vampire Mick St. John on the short-lived series, "Moonlight." You see Alex was hip way before vampires and vampire series became all the rage. He's also appeared on "The Shield" and the medical drama "Three Rivers."

Why you should take notice of them now: Well, he's playing J.Lo's love interest in this week's big rom-com release, "The Back-Up Plan," and he's unsure he'd stick out a relationship in which his significant other got pregnant via sperm bank, which is fine because we kind of don't blame him. Next up for Alex, he's set to star in the "Hawaii Five-O" flick.
