Our Girl Crush this week isn’t exactly a girl … she's one fabulous woman. And she’s been doing this whole Hollywood thing for quite sometime, especially during her golden years. Okay, we’ll stop with the hints and just tell you already (though she needs no introduction)! The one and only Betty White is who we’re crushing on!
You might be a little confused as to how she can be our girl crush, but Betty has been around since before most of today’s Iit-girls were even born. Her resume shows a list of accomplishments even Hollywood heavy-weights could only dream of. Betty’s career really started in the 1940s with her radio show "The Betty White Show" but her first TV appearance was with the variety show "Hollywood on Television," which she later went on to host. And perhaps her most well-known role was as loveable but ditzy Rose on "The Golden Girls," which earned her one of six Emmy Awards.
Since her hilarious turn in "The Proposal" and her now-infamous Superbowl commercial in which Betty was “tackled” to the ground by burly football players, Betty’s been getting her groove back! No one can get enough of her charm and whit, including the Facebook world, where a group was made to promote the idea of Betty actually hosting "Saturday Night Live"! And what’s even more exciting is that it actually worked! Enough Facebook users (some not even old enough to have watched "The Golden Girls") joined the group and got the job done.
On May 8, Betty will take the stage as the oldest female host of "Saturday Night Live"! Like a wine, Betty seems to be getting better with age! Why else do we love her? The Huffington Post recently posted photos of her looking gracefully goofy at a promotional event eating a famous Pinks hot dog. Betty now has a couple more things to add to her accomplishments! We’re sure Dorothy and Blanche would be proud!
