Before we actually get to the news of this post, we'd like to point down that now there are only two projects floating around in Hollywood with called "Friends With Benefits" right now. Looks like Ivan Reitman's upcoming comedy blinked first and is currently untitled. That still leaves the Justin Timberlake comedy and NBC pilot TV series with the no-strings-attached titles, so now it's just a waiting game to see which will back down.
Now on to the exciting news: "The Wackness" star Olivia Thirlby is in talks to join the Ivan Reitman film, according to TheWrap. It's not that ironic that Ivan is thinking about casting Olivia considering his son Jason sent her into the public awareness with 2007's "Juno." This has been an exciting month for Olivia, considering she signed on for her first starring role in Chris Gorak's "The Darkest Hour" opposite Emile Hirsch in early April.
With the film formerly known as "Friends With Benefits" formerly known as "F--kbuddies" (ask for a "U" and a "C" and you'll have the uncensored title), Olivia will star as Natalie Portman's character's sister.
The story follows two people — Natalie and Ashton Kutcher — who get involved in a no-strings-attached relationship but then start to develop feelings for one another. Last week, Variety announced that Greta Gerwig, Kevin Kline, Ophelia Lovibond and Ben Lawson would also be starring in the film. Greta plays Natalie's character's best friend who first notices that Ashton's character has feelings for her.
Even without a title, Paramount has set this film to hit theaters January 7, 2011.
Are you a fan of Olivia's? If you could title the movie, what would you call it?
